Nicolo's Chicago Style Pizza — Restaurant in Lakewood

My family and I have been coming here in person for years as well as ordering delivery. I ordered a pizza yesterday for my kids. Everything was amazing and on time as always. However, I dealt with the most rudest delivery driver EVER. I always pay with a credit card with my tip on the credit card. After the driver handed me my pizza, I said thanks. he put his hand on his hip and said “so what no tip no nothing?” I was taken by surprise because I always tip and apologized and said it was on my card. He pulled out the receipt and said “nope, big fat zero”. This was the most inappropriate driver and comment ever. Of course, I love to tip for service and so since I only pay with my credit card and had no change, my 17-year-old was at the door and because the driver was not moving from my doorstep, gave him his bus fare in chang. As we were waiting for my son to get change because again, the driver was refusing to leave, he told me as I was apologizing if there was no tip “dont you know a service charge is different from a tip?” I did tell him yes, I knew the difference, and I always tip via credit card. After we gave him my sons bus money, he went to his car and actually counted the money before he left my property. This was very unprofessional. This place has an old school feel to a pizza restaurant - redefining Mom and Pop pizza shops. The menu here is also different than other pizza shops - that alone is worth stopping in to check out not just the business itself but also the delicious smells the restaurant also emits. I also can't forget that this business serves alcoholic beverages! Wow! The only thing missing here are TVs, salad bar and an actual bar!!!

The calzone was incredible. So was the fettuccine Alfredo. The sandwich was also absolutely incredible - the Italian Beef.

Courtney's Pizza to-go was also fire. I also might recommend that the calzones, pizzas and subs and possibly the wings be well done for the best overall review.

Thank you Avi for making our first dine in experience worth remembering. Avi was very attentive and gave us the best customer service in the corner of the pizza shop. Always refilling soda and always checking to see how we are doing!

I am also curious to see the delivery service here to see if it is as great as the dining in.

Ordered for pickup one pizza. Was told pick up in 20 minutes, got there 20 minutes later and they looked confused and ticket wasnt even on the line yet to be made. Was told sorry we are busy, which they were. I get it, i managed pizza places for years but there is an issue if youre telling people their pizza will be ready in 20 and its not even being made yet, there is an issue with communication that is not being dealt with. I love yalls pizza but i had plans that i was fitting getting a pizza in to that ended up being way later than expected. Staff looked a little flustered when there should be a pretty firm communication from managers what types of wait times are to be expected at the moment for orders, and staff should be paying more attention to how busy the place is and how long orders are taking. Its pretty easy to predict a pizza order time if youre paying attention. I dont want to screw with anyones star rating but there are plenty of other pizza places around, left a pretty bad impression on me this time, like pay...
