Im sorry i tried eating here twice its not good. your front cash register girl is nice but unhygienic. When i went there 2 weeks in between she was coughing and sneezing in the front and she sneezed both times i handed her my card she sneezed with my card in her hand. I can ignore a cough and sneeze, but doing it as im picking up my food and handed you my card to be swiped.. both times i went weeks apart? At that point you have to wear a mask if you have something going on or stay home you're in food service honestly turned me off to eat right then and there. Now food, because thats what matters and brought me to write this. black olives in a greek salad instead of kalamata is flat out wrong, just no. I got a chicken souvlaki and there was tiny pieces of chicken a few dry pieces with crumbles. For 12$. The salad even had the core of the lettuce head in it... 2 hard cores of heads of lettuce. The tzatziki is so sour it was like sourcream that sat out for days, had no cucumber or anything it seriously tasted like warm greek yogurt. The falafel had good taste but not authentic, and was so hard on the outside i could feel it cut up the inside of my mouth making it inedible. Dolmas also had a good taste inside initially but were dripping in oil and the grape leaves weren't destemmed as i pulled a pointy stem out of my mouth. I wanted to like this place SO bad I wish i could make this my souvlaki spot but it failed miserably. Frozen heated pita. Even the dressing had a oil to seasoning ratio of 80/20. The owners seem nice i just dont think they understand how they are being viewed and the quality that is being put out. Their regulars must believe this is what real greek food is like or have terribly...
Read moreI live in the southlands area about 45 minutes away from Yianni's. There is a LOT of gyro restaurants between me and them yet for YEARS I chose to drive 45 minutes to Yianni's . The lady was very nice as usual . I told her I'm on the motorcycle please wrap everything in foil and put it a plastic bag for me so I can put it in my backpack . I bought three gyros three fries for 28 bucks and gave them a 5 dollar tip even though I'm just picking up the food . She wraps up the sandwiches for me and put them in a plastic bag. Then this guy with her (I think her son) decides to throw all my fries in a plastic "thank you" shopping bag even though she asked him to put it in foil and she saw him do that and couldnt tell him anything that's why I think it's her son. When he brought the food to the counter for me I pick up the plastic bag with the fries in it and showed it to him in front of her . I said "this is how you bag it for me" and he says "yes". I said thank you and walked out. Needless to say I feel very disappointed l, humiliated and unappreciated. For years I have been going there and all my friends that own businesses on colfax been going there for years as well . I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AND NEITHER WILL MY FRIENDS . He didn't even put any tissues for us . I have pictures I wish I can upload them here. You buy food to go and no tissues . What a sad ending to our story. ...
Read moreWhere to begin.. you can't go wrong here. Most Greek places have bad, watery and unsatisfying taziki sauce. But here, it's so flavorful and thick that I always ask for extra. The Greek Burger is to die for. Order it up, slop on that delicious, white cream and enjoy. You should dip your fries in the taziki too, but you already know that. I know what you're thinking, this guy is obsessed with taziki. But let me tell you, there's more to love about this place than just taziki.
Honestly, they are not that friendly but I sort of like it. When you call in your order, they won't greet you or anything. They just say YIANNI'S and FIVE MINUTES. It seems like a metaphor for their food, you know? Don't come here for anything fancy or frilly, it's just good fricking diner/Greek food.
One time, I called in my order and I got there ten minutes early because Harbor Freight was closed. I went to the counter and was politely teased about showing up so soon. Some people might hate that, but to err is human. If you can't laugh at yourself, what can you laugh at?
The only thing is, there's always cops there. Like A LOT of cops. Sometimes up to 6 cops will be eating there together. I know they are people too, but when you're baked out of your mind and hella paranoid just go to Thai Diamond, there are never...
