WOW, what happened? (to KFC over the years, as well as being both a KFC and a Long John Silvers)
KFC used to be the best option for chicken and side items 15, maybe even 10 years ago (and of course 20+ years, but I'm focusing on when the last time I went to a KFC was for the sake of this review, which was around the time they did those chicken pot pies), and I used to LOVE how they also had Long John Silvers fish & chips and other sides - those hush puppies were the greatest side item I've ever had!
Family was craving their "Famous Bowl" tonight, so we got 3, as well as a large side of mac & cheese and some biscuits. The bowls, surprisingly, were pretty good, especially when, as I previously said, the last times we went to a KFC was to try their chicken pot pies, which were "just ok", maybe mediocre at best (and look at how they didn't last);
the mac & cheese, was the WORST mac & cheese we had ever eaten! No, seriously, we used to think mac & cheese made using Velveeta cheese from scratch was THE WORST we had ever eaten... what happened? KFC's mac & cheese never used to be this bad, it used to be either as good as, if not better than, Stouffer's brand frozen mac & cheese that you heat in a conventional oven. But somehow, it now tastes as bad as, if not worse, than made from scratch using Velveeta.
The biscuits were alright, personally I've had better, but other family relatives of mine said they were the best they had ever eaten, so, either way, no real complaints with the biscuits. Still nowhere as good as the hush puppies were.
Lastly, I just want to comment on, food service places should probably employ people that don't give answers to questions like "uh-uh", when being told no about something (here's a hint for any employee that may be reading this, "uh-uh" makes you sound like a child, at least to me it does, so just a friendly piece of advice to maybe work on improving that).
Overall, the price was alright (better / cheaper than what we usually end up paying at Popeye's), and ⅔ of the order was even good, edible. Giving KFC 2 stars, whereas back when the mac & cheese was still good around the time of the chicken pot pies, I easily would have given a 3 or 4...
Read moreI initially wanted to order an original recipe fill up which I wanted with a original recipe thigh they were not ready at the time (15 min wait which normally I would wait as I prefer fresh food but was on my lunch break). Instead I chose to order a chicken little (honey BBQ). For the 2nd time (1st time in the Palmdale location appx 10 miles away) the bottom piece of bread was hard and CLEARLY starting to grow mold on the bottom (if you had the ability to upload pics on this site I would). (Struggling not to use profanity or insults to describe managements handling of this situation in this review). I then go into the store and talk to the employee (she was very polite) and advised them of the situation she offered to replace said order. I initially declined as the likelyhood of ANOTHER molded piece of bread seemed to be too great .I asked if I could please just have a 6 piece order of buffalo wings instead (I was polite and cordial as I understand rudeness generally gets you no where ESPECIALLY when it comes to fast food or favors) the message was then relayed from the manager (didnt even come to speak to me) was that because of the price difference now the difference in price is appx 2.50 cents that I could not have it exchanged (didn't even offer to have me pay the difference which would be an even BIGGER insult but whatever). Now I could see if it was an order ERROR but we are literally talking about a problem that could cause extreme sickness I've heard and seen plenty of lawsuit stories on stuff like this(mold is great for penicillin but not on my sandwich) I'm literally so angry and irritated that I literally going to contact the health department to see what can be done because on top of potentially poisoning people with molded bread your "HIGHLY TRAINED" managers didn't even make a conscious effort to fix the problem. In the end I was exchanged for another chicken little that after one look at the sandwich I took a piece of the tender I trashed it as the thought of molded kfc chicken little bread...
Read moreI used the drive through, and when I got to the window to pay, I was charged for the wrong meal, $3.00 more. I paid anyway. Silly me, because to my surprise the chicken was old and taste like paper, and the fries were sitting for to long. I returned the meal, and asked that they refund me, due to the food being old. I was told I could not get my money back and they could give me a store credit. I refused and insisted that they return to me the cost of the meal. The person addressing the issue was really polite and stated no manager was present.she implied she needed to speak with the manager by phone. I insisted that she make the call. She returns telling me the same thing, she could not give me a refund, but could give me a store credit. I asked why would I accept a store credit when the food is not fresh. It's now 10mins, and another woman comes out and refunds the money for the meal back onto my card. It's really getting bad that these big named fast food places are charging extra money for bad food and service. I'm not accepting this anymore, especially at the prices we are being charged now. Enough is enough. I noticed when I went inside this place it had lots of workers on the floor, and Yikes! it was really dirty and unkept. Shame on KFC management for asking hard working customers to accept such poor service and bad food at...
