First time going here, I got the Smokin' T's original platter and an order of cheese stuffed pretzel bites which were on today's special menu. Can't speak for the dine-in experience since I got takeout, so I'll focus on the food. The pretzel bites were supposed to come with a sriracha honey mustard dipping sauce. They were out of the sauce, so they came with maple mustard sauce instead, which was still very good. A couple of the bites seemed to have lost some of their cheese in the cooking process, but they were overall quite tasty and a pretty generous portion. The platter states that it comes with 1/3 rack of ribs, 1/4 lb brisket, 1/4 lb pulled pork, a smoked chicken thigh, pepper jack mac & cheese, and apple coleslaw. There was also cornbread. Again, they were out of the smoked chicken thigh, which they substituted with smoked chicken wings (2 flats and 2 drums). First of all, the portions were huge. I don't believe there was only 1/4 lb each of brisket and pork. My husband and I actually each got a platter and agreed after that we easily could just have split one. I'll start with my least favorite item, the mac & cheese. It wasn't bad, per se, just a little flat for me. There were scallions on top that added some interest, but it wasn't something I'd eat alone. It did pair nicely with the meats though. The coleslaw was very tasty, although there was an excessive amount of dressing. This is not really a negative for me, since using a fork eliminates the excess, and it wasn't watery or anything, but it did look soupy. The chicken wings were delicious, juicy and flavorful in a way that reminds me of a Chinese food chicken wing, but better. The brisket was tender and delicious. The pulled pork was tender and delicious. The ribs were the most tender, flavorful, mouthwateringly amazing ribs I have ever had. I actually don't even usually bother with ribs because I don't like food that's work, but the meat fell right off the bones and was just so good. I didn't have room for my cornbread but my husband said his was good. Overall, the food here was stellar and I highly...
Read moreWe really looked forward to eating here tonight and chose Smokin T's instead of our own local hometown restaurants because of past experience; delicious wings, mac n' cheese, pulled pork, etc. only to be extremely disappointed by the food. The Thai wings came out tasteless and old looking. The carrots/celery sticks were room temp and soft from sitting out for a long while. The pulled pork mac n' cheese was served mildly warm with some pulled pork seemingly slapped on top. We were honest with our waitress, Megan, when she returned to our table asking about the food. I then politely set my unappetizing dish aside after only one small bite or two. Megan was understanding and apologetic. She said she would let her supervisor know. Megan came back with her supervisor's 20% off discount and we were surprised that they weren't being more generous and accommodating than taking $8 off the bill. I then asked to speak to Megan's supervisor. Shawna then came out to talk to me in a very rude, defensive and condescending manner refusing to bend any further on lowering our bill, presuming I had eaten my entire meal (which wasn't at ALL the case). She then argued that if I was that unhappy I should have asked for something else instead. We hadn't been served our appetizer/dishes until close to closing, maybe 8:30, and didn't want to be any more of a nuisance after complaining twice about our disappointment and distaste. Regardless, a new selection had never been offered to us at any point. Shawna's final offer (she verbally made very clear) was an additional $3 off the bill to "cover the taxes and make up more than the price of one dish, $11?) It's safe to say this is not a restaurant we will be rushing back to or recommending to our local friends any time soon. Our biggest regret was not taking Shawna up on speaking with the owners when she offered us that choice in a threatening way. The only saving grace was our empathetic server, who we would leave 5 stars for and instead left the difference...
Read moreSo we decided to give it another try.
I ordered the steak tips medium with a loaded bake potato with pork on top.
my husband got the Maple Bacon Burger.
For appetizer we ordered the Buffalo chicken over tots.
My steak was cooked great, I have to remember that the sauce is very strong so I probably won't get it again, but that's a personal preference.
My pulled pork loaded bake potato was AMAZING. Honestly, I'll probably just get that as my main course next time.
My husband was sad he didn't see that there was a choice of onion rings, but said the fries were good. He ate most of the appetizer so he took the burger home, so I cannot comment on that.
The appetizer was good for 2 people. Husband said the tots to chicken ratio favored the tots a little too much, but over-all it was good. I would order extra ranch or blue cheese if we got it again.
There was a 15 minute wait, which was ok on a Friday night.
The waitress was great.
old review: Steak was cooked perfect. Waitress was great. I was so sad, because I loved the food when it was just a food stand, and now I won't go there again. Pulled pork nachos (my favorite food stand item) was served in a basket that was hard to eat out of, the chips were cold, the pork was Luke warm, the cheese was actually hot. My double order of Mac and cheese - it sounded so delicious on the menu - was old tasting and looked like it had been sitting in a warming plate all day and I was the first person to order it. My husband's burger was cold the cheese wasn't even melted or even close to melting and the onions were just not right at all. To be fair the waitress did take like 2.50 off his meal. It was my choice to go here because it was my birthday dinner and I tried to make the best of it, but for the amount of money we spent we could have gone to Longhorn and ate just as much but been...
