Chocolateka — Restaurant in Laredo

I gave up hope on this place. Nothing is really appealing when you have to swat flies as you try and eat inside. Music most times is terrible. Service is decent on good days. Menus are always dirty with chocolate or chamoy, I never want to touch it. Assuming there is a menu at times. They have like one. Ew and the time I wanted to throw my trash away, yeah I ended up with gunk in my hand. Not sure if it was chamoy, yogurt or chocolate. Maybe all three. Roaches sneak up on you in the restroom. It's like I myself have to clean the restroom and make sure nothing is crawling. Not to mention paper towels...they don't exist there. Chamoy tastes icky. I mean sure chamoy is new to me in my life but I got addicted to it elsewhere and in tasting here, I thought I'd know what to expect. Haven't gotten the courage to eat chamoy again. It's like lbs of sugar in that poo. The lighting in the back stinks. They need more raspas non chamoy. More yogurt flavors. They need major dusting! When asked "Anything to drink" I see the drink i want and they never have it. Don't advertise what you don't have hunny. Pity, Big store for such a place, lots to "offer" according to them and yet not so much in display but strawberries, and strawberries, and apples, and oh look strawberries.

I thought things would get better but Tried it 3 times and Three Strikes you are OUT! Yes everything looks good but looks can be deceiving.

I recommend Red Berry for yogurt! YUM Rocky Mountain for Candy Apples or Chocolate YUM (some chocolates are over priced too but more to offer) Penguinos for raspas (they sometimes have candy apples and they have more snacks and food) Chocolateka is over priced. Way over rated.

Although I gave it one star I give it 4...

I’m so disappointed in my interaction today in the evening. They charge around $11 almost $12 for the chocolateka ice cream today which I was fine with in the afternoon. The lady there was so sweet! The lady in the evening though did not notify that they ran out of trays so they were using a small container which is not the same size! And it’s almost $12 which is a meal you know! So imagine when I see my boyfriend brings me that I’m like that’s not the same size from the afternoon so I didn’t want it because $12 for a smaller size I think not! And they didn’t want to refund so I can get something else. The gaslighting is real. I’m so disappointed I have been going here for more than 15 years and I never mind paying for what is advertised but not for less due to them running out of the container and than the lady being rude about it. I’m still in shock because who does that. It’s like getting a small drink and them charging for a large drink. It’s the ethics...

I just had the best experience ever! It had been a while since I’ve been here and when I came with my son to buy us some strawberries with chocolate, the young man working there was very polite and explained the difference between the chocolate to me and even let us try it to see which one we would like better. I really appreciate how he went out of his way to help us have the best experience ever.

If I could give this place a 10 star rating I would and I will be recommending my whole family when they come visit for the holidays.
