HOLY SMOKES!!! Everyone we have a serious Best of the bay contender here.
Food was incredibly delicious I’m sorry I don’t have a picture of the beef patty because once it hit my mouth I about lost it.
Talk about as good you can get highest quality you can taste this took me back when I lived in Brooklyn as a kid going to school and would get one at my local Bodega and it about blew my mind I couldn’t stop eating it it was well seasoned just right with a nice punch!
Talked with the owner before they closed mind you they’re open till 2am on the weekends which is huge for this area most things are closed by 10pm and your SOL after that stuck with the usual suspects but this place has it right even down to their freaking sauces which EVERYTHING IS MADE IN HOUSE.
Dude I don’t know a time where I had mozzarella sticks and hated the sauce with it but theirs is obviously made in house and it’s an original recipe! And it was so damn good.
I had asked the owner about what a “white sauce was?” And to my amazement he’s pulls one out and says, “well you tell me it’s a tasty mixture of things” and DUDE my mouth was losing it! It’s like a mixture of a Tzatziki/Garlic Ranch sauce on steroids! It was so original and unquestionably unique and I loved it!!!!! I gave him so many props I told him this must be his signature sauce! And to my surprise…
The Chef asked me if I liked spicy food and of course my jolly fat ass loves it! He has me try two more new unique sauces that again I can only contain my excitement for these as well!!!
A green cilantro/lime ancho pepper mayo sauce that’s better than anything I’ve ever tried and could drink it if I could &
Thai chili Roasted Red pepper pesto sauce that has such a tasty Mediterranean style to it that literally blew my tastebuds mind. know this man has a degree in flavor
So for my meal I had this absolutely freaking amazing Butter Chicken and Yellow rice and pita bread to dip it in that amazing sauce. It was breathtaking I couldn’t stop eating it till I about popped the portions are absolutely perfect and loaded just like in the city and the food is to truly experience. I will be be back to try everything on their menu but this place is truly a special spectacular spot in the Bay Area!
You must give this place a try I repeat you MUST give this place a try! And come back and come back again because you WONT be disappointed by the full hidden treasure hole in the wall experience you’ve been looking for!!
A++++
Thank you Big Apple and your dedicated owner and team my wife and I...
Read moreLong trip to VA about an hour each way, then appointments. My wife and I were planning to stop for late lunch. Looking for new places and this caught our eye with nice reviews. We were welcomed right away and seated by the Owner/Manager/Cook/Server/Cashier/Dishwasher. This is a dedicated man! Good thing for GPS or we might have missed it, tucked away in a small strip of stores. Only 8 parking places but we were able to get onto the grass beside the convenience store next door.
We both chose the Lamb Rice Bowls, hers with Chicken and Lamb, mine with Lamb. These came with a side salad. We grabbed a couple of waters from the Self-Serve cabinets by entrance. We waited just a bit for our food, and it came out piping hot and smelled wonderful. It also came with Homemade White Sauce for salads and we requested his Homemade Extra Hot Sauce. Both were great! I also spotted a (Jamaican?) Meat Pie. It was good but Rice bowls were top.
The Lamb was tender and favorable, almost melted in my mouth. My wife's Chicken and Lamb was delicious (yes I had a bite). The Rice was full flavored wonderfully and the salad was fresh and crisp. YUM! It was a hefty serving so we had plenty of rice and meat to bring home. My guess he is used to people carrying leftovers home - our meals came in a carry out aluminum bowl, so we just combined and put the cover on!
My wife just had to try the Tres Leche Cake, so we got a slice. She split it and said we could share. Nah. I'll just try a bite. Big mistake. She didn't get the half dish back! It was heavenly!
Now, this place isn't fancy and it's not very big, but the Hero is the FOOD! It is almost like dining with a friend, very casual and relaxed. We were there at a late lunch, so only one other couple were there. Ajie came and sat with us and chatted awhile. Now the time he got a review, he was packed and worn out. If he is pretty busy and tired, he may decide to leave early or take a day off. He deserves it! So maybe call...
Read moreWe had to try this place out while on vacation because we're originally from NYC and the food looked good. As we enter the establishment we were immediately greeted by the owner Ajie (Ajay) who was very friendly and personable. He made good recommendations that ended up being on point.
We decided on the chicken gyro, lamb over rice platter, beef patty, and mozzarella sticks. I can honestly say everything was good. My fiancé isn't fond of chicken, but she could not stop razing about her gyro. It was the best she's ever had. She loved how seasoned and flavorful the chicken was and how fresh everything tasted. My lamb over rice platter was also flavorful but the lamb wasn't the best. Not bad, just not what I'm accustomed to. The rice was spicy and had lots of flavor. The lettuce, cucumbers and tomato were all fresh while the sauces added to the goodness. The red sauce was very spicy and the white sauce balanced it out. The beef patty was also spicy and tasted as good as he said it would. The mozzarella sticks were a little spicy from seasoning in the breading and were surprised good.
If I lived locally, this would be one of my go-to spots. It's hard to find real authentic NY style food in Florida but Big Apple's got it right! He said that he stays open up to 2am on the weekends, making Big Apple's one of the only non-fast food places to eat that late. Go and support this gentleman and this business...You won't be...
