Multi year customer. This Sonny's continues it downward spiral. What was once a weekly stop is now 1x a month...and not that I will never return. But it may be a few months before I return.
Service this evening was good, as reflected in his tip. Not the young man's fault the issues this store has. The issues are decisions made by the Corporate fat cats.
It would appear COVID is the excuse for everything, although COVID is over in the big picture. Sonny's is more interested in drive thru then dine in customers.
The salad bar will never return. These days you can't even order a salad before your meal.
Dining room temperature by my phone app. 67 inside. The marketing experts foolishly believe by making customers chilly and uncomfortable they will not want to actually enjoy their meal and dinner conversation. Rather stuff your face ...hurry up & get out.
I just bring my winter coat or blanket. I don't care what anyone thinks. Usually other patrons comment they wish they had the foresight to bring theirs. Always freezing inside. The idiots in marketing need to realize they are not increasing turn over but providing a reason not to return.
Here is a photo of the lame limp soggy piece of garlic bread my sliced pork sandwich was served. Not Texas Toast thick .... I think it was just Wonder Bread with some garlic margarine...not even real butter. But hey... Sonny's made .07 cents more in profit.
One can certainly tell Vinny S. Is no longer the manager here. His replacements name has been erased...but still legible by the front entrance. The entire staff appeared as if they were discontented and just doing enough to keep their job.
Smokin Rib Shack.... Ribs ain't all we are Smoking is now out of business. No fault of that guy. But City of Largo and townhome developer forcing a relocation...only to have the street closed and the construction of parking and new city hall.
Sonny's may have a temporary local monopoly on a BBQ restaurant. But I suspect a new competitor is going to come along and swiping up Sonny's customers will not be a challenge. All Sonny's seems to care about is the bottom line. Food portions are noticeably smaller, even after a 20% price increase with the newer menu.
Apparently no way to attach photo to...
Read moreMy family and I recently made the move from Illinois to sunny Florida, and along the way, we made a pit stop at a Sonny's BBQ for the first time. Let me tell you, we were absolutely blown away by the delicious food and top-notch service - especially by our server. She was the epitome of kindness and friendliness, going above and beyond by even giving us a to-go cup without us having to ask. She was hands down one of the best servers we've ever had, which is why we keep coming back to Sonny's BBQ every chance we get.
Now, let's talk about our latest visit to the Sonny's BBQ in Largo. While the food was as delicious as ever, the service left much to be desired. We couldn't help but feel like there were some less-than-friendly servers, and unfortunately, our server Claire C was no exception. From the moment we sat down, she exuded negativity and seemed bothered by our presence. She managed to take our orders, but we had to remind her multiple times about missing items, including the ice cream for our kids. It was clear that she wasn't thrilled about being our server, and her lackluster service reflected that.
To top it all off, Claire had the audacity to ask if we wanted to-go plates while we were still eating, and she hadn't even brought out our ice cream yet. Needless to say, I only left her a $5 tip because I didn't feel she deserved any more. And wouldn't you know it, we caught her rolling her eyes and complaining to her coworker about the tip amount. Talk about unprofessional!
In the end, it's safe to say that Claire C's service was one of the worst I've ever encountered. Hopefully, Sonny's BBQ can weed out the bad apples and continue to provide great food and service to their loyal customers. Cheers to better dining experiences in the future!
This was about 2 weeks and we haven't returned. What a shame because we really...
Read moreOof…We haven’t been here in 2-3 years because of a previous experience. Ordered at 5:44 said it would be ready by 5:55. 11 minutes seems reasonable as the meat is already prepared. Pulled in at 5:57 and made the call. Told us “it’s not ready yet, we’ll have it out in a couple minutes.” After idling in our vehicle for 23 minutes and watching many customers get their food via curbside and drive through, I decided to go in. After walking past an employee that seemed really disappointed to have to stop vacuuming so that I may pass, she grumbled through a “welcome to Sonny’s” without any eye contact, I stood there awkwardly until someone acknowledged me, (obviously the man behind the bar wasn’t concerned) I said politely “hello I’ve been waiting curbside for 20+ minutes for our food” to which the woman replied “Are you Uber?” I explained that I wasn’t and told her my name. She went in the kitchen to inquire about my order when a voice shouted “It has been sitting right here!” Someone came out with the bags. No apology, not even a mention that our order was 27 min past it’s time. Of course food was cold. Flaccid French fries and soggy fried pickles as well as the dried out meat. We were in a rush so we consumed the food but it was one of those meals where everyone involved just stews in silence about the experience that was just had. I wouldn’t have written this review had anyone showed any kind understanding or an apology . We wondered if our food would have taken 38 min (total) if we had dined in as they weren’t busy. As a former service industry manager with 20 years experience and someone who works in a customer service role, yikes. Mistakes happen, we understand that. It is how the situation was dealt with is what irked us. Attached photo shows timestamp of when order placed vs....
