My wife and I have a weekly ritual to have breakfast out every Saturday morning. We like to try local businesses and we chose Speggtacular based on it's welcoming signage, appeal, and reviews.
Our most recent experience was abhorrent and discriminatory towards my wife and myself. One particular server began our interaction very chummy, but it was a cloak. The rest of our visit we went unchecked, ignored, and had to wave down other servers for continued service such as drink refills and missing items from our order.
I am giving this business a raving review based on the following.
We were able to wave down our server from the previous week, Christina. She remembered us too. She was so kind, so receptive, so in the moment and understanding of how the service system should work seamlessly and caring to the patrons.
Christina made it a point to listen to me as I pled the following.
We arrived and our server was friendly. She then condescendingly corrected me on referring to chives on the menu as scallions. Then, she referred to me as "them," but not in the LGBTQIA accepting way, rather the narrow-minded reference to someone as "it." I then went to the bathroom, the women's bathroom. I even ran into another employee cleaning, who was quite friendly and nice (the lady with the vibrant and wonderful purple hair). When I came back I was surprised my empty coffee and an additional menu item was missed. I chalked it up to her being busy and continued with my meal.
After multiple attempts to flag her down, and her blatantly ignoring us or looking away, we realized she only had one other table, who was finishing up and located adjacent to us.
Then, as I was running out of water (some 20 minutes later), we were able to flag down the tall blonde lady with a bob haircut, she was quite nice and was kind enough to replenish all missing items.
Immediately after the replenishment our server finally checked on us. Then we asked for a togo box. And when she brought the check she also brought the togo box, and gathered our empty dishes. That's when I had this look of absolute shock on my face. The togo box she gave us was dirty.
This final act of what felt like intentional discrimination struck a chord with me and I had to make my voice heard. That's when I flagged down Christina.
Oddly enough, our server, whom only visited the table once during our entire hour visit, suddenly visited 4 times within 10 minutes. As if she knew why I was crying.
And as much as I knew what Christina was about to do to make it right, I firmly advised I will not take it, as I just wanted the business to know and understand the thorn in their rose and we paid our bill in full without taking anything to go.
This business is better than my experience at my latest visit. It will not deter my wife and I, as we enjoyed the atmosphere otherwise.
But I strongly recommend visiting with any server other than Laura.
Christina needs to be recognized and rewarded profusely for her efforts for making it right and assuring me that the future visits would be different. I highly recommend this place as they are infact kind and understanding that diversity is welcome and respected, not tolerated.

Read moreI came here because of the variety of their menu. Their customer service is the worst I have experienced in my life. The waitress took over 15 minutes just to get our order. A different waitress had to come and bring us drinks. I waited for over an hour for the food to arrive which is absurd, this is not a fine dining restaurant. The waitress dropped our drinks, spilled the toasts on our table, seems like she was on something. Three tables came after us, ate and left before us. We still had not received our food. We asked for a manager that never came. When we finished our meal I went to ask for the manager, and the lady up front said that she was it. So I asked her if she was a manager to what she responded ‘sorta’. So I asked are you in charge or not? She said ‘sure you can say that, what do you want’? I could tell that she could care less about whatever I was going to say. So after explaining everything and her making every excuse on the book, she said ‘well what do you want’? So I asked for her to please get me someone that was really in charge, she said that was the kitchen manager. He comes out with the worst attitude and asks ‘what do you want? At this point I’m wondering if talking is pointless. I explain everything and he says that the lady in charge was his daughter. I told him she has a little bit of an attitude and he got upset. I was just trying to share my experience and see if he could do something. He said listen, I’ll give you 10% off and that’s it. I said well can you do anything better? Your staff and the whole experience is like nothing I’ve experienced before and that was like an insult. He says if you’re trying to stiff the bill I’ll call the cops. I said that’s not what I want I want you to offer a reasonable solution, I could have left if I wanted to but if you need to call them go ahead and call them. He said ‘just pay the F** bill’!!! 0_0. I actually have him on video saying this if anyone wants to see it. So he called the cops and caused a huge scene just because he cannot provide customer service to his customers. I brought 22 family members which were divided in 3 different parties so the order wasn’t a 22 order ordeal. There is no excuse for any of the behavior or experience we all had today. If you have read this far, I ask you to think twice about coming to this place and giving this unprofessional ‘human’ your business. He ended up not giving any discount and asking if my payment was going to bounce and if I needed a payment plan. If you want to be treated like garbage please then come to this place. They will all treat you with terrible attitude, starting from the owner and all of the kitchen staff and waiters and...
Read moreThis should be 4.5 stars in my book and the only reason it didn’t get to 5 was due to the humidity/heat inside the restaurant.
Literally 78 maybe even 82 degrees inside and most likely due to the seals on the doors were non-existent as well as maybe the AC needed coolant.
But onto the 5 star part of the review!
Service was amazing, fast and courteous! The hostess sat us immediately on a Sunday after service time of day! The server was quick to get to us, and brought out drinks our super fast.
The tables and chairs/booths need to be replaced/fixed, our table had a crack that made your drinks topple if you weren’t careful and the booth we sat in had a crack that had food in it.
The food came out super fast and it didn’t lack in taste or temp as if it was pre-made.
Our food had flavors I haven’t had in forever! I had the corned beef hash and it wasn’t too salty, mushy and skimpy! It was perfect. Potatoes were crispy yet moist in the middle and the eggs were done just right.
The Royal (French toast on top of a huge crepe) came with fruit that popped! The English cream made you forget strum could ever be used!
The cooks here must be seasoned professionals and I hope they’re paid well! I hope they take delight in how good their food tastes because they should be complimented for making this restaurant 5 stars in taste and presentation!
Now the bill, oh boy oh boy are you in for a shock! AFFORDABLE! For everything we got we paid less than $17 each with taxes!
I kid you not, I was shocked given today’s economic woe’s and thinking to myself you could bring your whole extended family here and feed them all and not break the bank!
Kudos to the owners, management and the franchise for staying true to what a...
