My significant and I was out and about for a night out on the town and wanted to try out this restaurant because it was raved about by others who already have eaten there. We figured that the place was just a couple of doors down from a bar that we wanted to go to for karaoke and figured it would be just easy to have something to eat then go and enjoy a good adult beverage along with some good music.
Now for the REVIEW.
Upon walking through the doors, we were immediately greeted by the server named Kathy and right away she made the experience very welcoming. Once seated, she promptly took our drink orders and got it sent out in a very timely matter. After a few minutes of general chit-chatter with her, we were ready to place our dinner order. My significant inquired about the Chicken Paprika dish and she gave it a high recommendation thus placing an order for one. I ordered a very simple Ham and Cheese Omelette with a side order of bacon and sausage patties. After the orders were put in, Kathy introduced us to the cook who was on staff by the name of Adam. He presented himself as a friendly and also welcoming staff member and further added the whole welcoming experience.
The Presentation.
My significant’s Chicken Paprika was plated nicely and right out of the gate it looked very appetizing. My omelette was presented like any other omelette one would get from a typical diner. It was neat and it did not look like any of the cheese or diced ham was spilling out. The eggs were well and evenly cooked to exactly the way I like it and the bacon was crispy and not burned, again exactly the way I like it. My significant stated that the Chicken Paprika was delicious and had great flavour and seasoning to it.
The Establishment.
Upon walking through the doors, I immediately took notice that the place was very clean and looked like it is well kept. There was no dirt or any grime to speak of in site on the floor and including the baseboards. The tables and chairs were clean and looked like the place was just freshly opened up for the start of the day. The restaurant presents itself as a nice homey place with modern farmhouse style of decorations and the choice of colour pallet, giving the place a cosy atmosphere. Another plus to this restaurant, is that it is a 24-hour restaurant. Sadly, there are not too many of these kinds of restaurants here in Pinellas County.
Prices.
The menu prices are very reasonable and one would not have to worry about busting open the piggy bank here to have something decent along with great service. My significant and I spent about $35.00 including soft drinks.
The Recap.
Corner Skillet is a great restaurant to go out and enjoy a fast diner style bite to eat with great service to go with the welcoming and friendly environment. Added with a menu that is plentiful to satisfy many different tastes with it being affordable, the Corner Skillet comes highly recommended by myself and my significant.
Added Note: Thank you, Kathy and Adam, for a great first-time experience at the Corner Skillet. We will be making a return to this place in the...
Read moreI really really wanted to give this place a great review, and won't deny, the food (except for the home fries) is great. However, I ordered a side of bacon and as the server was turning the corner one slice of bacon fell off my plate, she tossed it either in the counter or God forbid, the trash, and just delivered our food as is, minus a slice of very dry yet expensive bacon. She didn't realize that I saw the bacon incident and when i asked if the side of bacon was 2 slices or 3, she said 3, and Said "you've got three there, right?" I replied, "Nope, just the two". She told the only other person in the building ,the cook, she needed a slice of bacon for us. 14 seconds later, she appeared with the same dry and cold piece of bacon she'd dropped off of my plate. I stilled tipped $10 cause by the looks of it, we were the only customers in some time, and she was nice, just so disappointed she didn't stick to her gut when she asked the cook for a new piece of bacon and not just throwing it back on the plate right then, I was very pleased until she ended up serving it to me anyway. I couldn't eat it because I couldn't confirm where it had fallen or where it had been tossed after bumping the stainless initially. I am certain she noticed that single slice of bacon, that I made a point to get, remained untouched, and knew why. Again, their food is good except the really thickly chuncked plain potatoes that they do not season or anything just deep fry and serve them undercooked, also left on plate. Their hash browns and French toast on the other hand are delish! I'm afraid due to food safety concerns, We will be visiting Country Skillet next time just down the road from this spot. Sorry to Corner Skillet, I always leave honest reviews, and was so hoping for a better outcome...
Read moreIf you're looking for a cozy, local spot with delicious food and great service, The Corner Skillet in Largo, Florida is a must-visit. My family and I made the drive down from Tampa to enjoy the Christmas lights and decided to stop by here for breakfast-for-dinner afterward. From the moment we walked in, we felt right at home.
Jay, our server, was fantastic—informative, fast, and friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed with a smile. It was clear that he enjoyed his job, and his upbeat energy made the experience even better. Derek, the chef, truly knows what he’s doing in the kitchen. Each of our dishes was cooked to perfection, and we all agreed that the ingredients were fresh and the food was top-notch. Though we all ordered something different, it was clear that The Corner Skillet doesn't cut corners on quality.
The place itself is small but clean, with that charming, local diner vibe that makes you feel like you're getting a real, home-cooked meal. The food was so good that my son couldn’t stop talking about his pancakes—they were apparently the best he's had in a long time. He talked about them the entire drive back to Tampa!
While we don’t make it to Largo often, I can confidently say that we’ll be back. And considering how much my son raved about the pancakes, I think we’ll be making that trip sooner rather than later. Highly recommend The Corner Skillet for anyone in the area or...
