They advertise "real homemade ice cream". Hm. I doubt that this stuff has the milkfat requirements to even be labeled any kind of ice cream. And it's packed full of artificial sweeteners (5 kinds!) and no sugar at all. I got their ingredients list straight off their website. Here it is:
Ice Cream Ingredients: Water, Nonfat Dry Milk, Polydextrose, Maltodextrin, Sorbitol, Mono & Diglycerides, Cellulose Gel, Cellulose Gum, Locust Bean Gum, Carrageenan, Aspartame, Acesulfame Potassium, Artificial Vanilla Flavor. Contains Milk.
Polydextrose is a starch, Maltodextrin is chemically-treated starches from corn, potatoes, etc. Both are used to make things taste sweet and feel creamy in the mouth. Cellulose gel, cellulose gum, locust bean gum and carrageenan are also in there for mouthfeel. Aspartame is Equal, Acesulfame Potassium is Sweet One, Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol (which can cause diarrhea) and there is artificial vanilla flavor, just to add to the skim milk + chemical soup that is advertised as ice cream.
Just to be clear, DQ is not technically real ice cream, either, but it's at least legally reduced fat ice cream and it has no chemical sweeteners, just texturizers for creaminess.
Artificially Flavored Vanilla Reduced Fat Ice Cream: Milkfat And Nonfat Milk, Sugar, Corn Syrup, Whey, Mono And Diglycerides, Artificial Flavor, Guar Gum, Polysorbate 80, Carrageenan, Vitamin...
Read moreWhat I ordered at the establishment was good, but the customer service and care for those with allergies is why I will never return. My brother has a severe peanut allergy and the women that worked there showed no concern. He had ordered a m&m taco shell (menu says nothing about cross contamination). When he was given the item he discovered a glob of what appeared to be peanut butter so we made the women working aware of this. She told us that there was a sign that said to let them know of any allergies and when I found this this “sign” it was small and blended into the counter, the only reason I noticed it was because she had pointed it out. Throughout our conversation she told us that the tacos themselves have a risk of cross contamination because they dip all of their foods in it, if requested. This risk was not posted anywhere and if it had been this whole issue could have been avoided. Also during the entire encounter no concern or any sort of customer service was demonstrated. The worker was rude and snippy. Now we are currently keeping a close eye on my brother to be sure he doesn’t go into anaphylactic shock. Was there customer error, of course but the response from the employee to this error was awful. If you cant ensure extensive, caring concern for those with any type of allergy or intolerance, than you shouldn’t be an...
Read moreWe come at least every other week up until about three weeks ago. I ordered a twister with Reese's and cookie dough. My husband ordered a banana split twister after being told. It was possible. He ended up getting something that was slop and looked nasty. The kids working fought back and forth with him and then finally agreed to make a normal Banana split but again by the time he got it, it was a melted mess. I got home and tried eating my ice cream and choked on a piece of plastic. I thought that's okay things happen and thought I would call, you can't even call the location. I still have the ice cream in my freezer with the piece of plastic taped to the cup but because I didn't know I was going to stop I didn't bring it with me when I left. The kids working at the time refused to do anything because I didn't call and tell anyone and didn't bring it with me. So please tell me how much sense that makes when you can't even call the location. I'm so glad that my 2 year old didn't get the bite I did because we would be having a different...
