I've been craving authentic Italian pizza lately and this place showed up on my radar after some thorough Google searches. The name, many hundreds of 5 star ratings and conveniently late hours for a night owl such as myself caught my attention.
I have to say, I'm incredibly impressed! I paid around $24 for their largest pepperoni pie and the taste was DELICIOUS. The dough was soft, flavorful and chewy but also surprisingly thin which was SO nice!!! It made enough for 2 servings and I didn't feel bloated after eating, a testament to just how well-made this pie is and the quality of its ingredients and how it was cooked. A lot of pizza places have dough that just feels stiff and way too much of it. This pizza was the perfect texture and the flavor of the cheese and sauce and pepperoni - it all blended together perfectly.
I didn't dine-in but I loved the atmosphere of the small, homey, lived-in space. The cafe is filled with mixed and matched chairs and its small size lends to the cozy vibe of the restaurant. In a world full of generic, cookie-cutter formulaic restaurants looking to overcharge for an ever-decreasing value and quality of food, Villa Italia Pizzeria feels like a truly homegrown establishment that cares about the product it delivers.
Just writing about it (and looking at the picture I attached), I'm already craving another one. And seriously, open till 11PM??? THANK you so much Villa Italia Pizzeria for the convenience!! I'll be making this my go-to pizza...
Read moreDespite all the superior reviews, my experience was not pleasing. Granted, those very positive reviews seem to have been from dining-in customers, not delivery customers. My delivered Vegetarian pizza was ok, but on the verge of being undercooked since dough in the middle was compressed and had not risen. For sure, there was no crust with an "airy" interior as some reviewers had raved about. Chicken wings were cooked, but barely - they were not at all crispy and meat did not readily separate from the bone. Perhaps food preparers were in a hurry to get the order out the door to meet delivery schedule?
What was most annoying was that the ordering menu described the pizza I ordered with these ingredients: spinach, broccoli, olives, tomato, mushrooms. There was NO broccoli on the entire pizza, but there were many, many pieces of GREEN PEPPER. Please note: I am highly allergic to GREEN PEPPERS. I did NOT want them. (In fact, according to the menu, if I had wanted them, I would have had to pay extra for them to be added to the pizza.) I guess if I had dined in and the pizza arrived with the green peppers, I could have had a new pizza made. As it was, I had to remove the peppers, sneezing and itching in the process. I like to be a positive and fair Google community reviewer, but I think my experience warrants at least an alert for delivery customers to inquire what really to expect when ordering on-line and lacking the opportunity to get real-time information from...
