An extremely disappointing first and now last visit. I recently relocated to Las Cruces and was craving some good Frozen Custard. Originally hailing from St Louis, Home of one of the most well-known Frozen Custard stands on Route 66, I feel I am quite familiar with the product. I went into Caliche's to get a chocolate malt. I have had chocolate milk that was thicker than the product served to me. A malt is supposed to have some level of thickness to it and this was as watery as chocolate milk.
In addition, the extra malt I requested and was charged exorbitantly for, did not appear to have been added. If it was, then I can't magine how weak the malt flavor would be if I hadn't requested extra malt. This was the most expensive malt I think I have ever gotten for the size of it and it was probably the worst. I emailed customer service about my disappointing experience, but never received a response. At this point, I will stick with Wendy's. A better malt at less than half the price. The only reason I gave this review a second star was because the staff was...
Read moreThe only place to get a righteous chili dog (all beef, too)!
I checked them out after passing by countless times and they turned out to be a great find. Plenty of different frozen yogurt concoctions to choose from so there is something for everyone. (As hot as it gets here, you'll be glad you put this place on your goto list!) If you get hungry for a hot dog, they'll satisfy that desire as well. When it comes to hot dogs, they have something you'll be looking forward to chow down on. My favorite is the chili cheese dog with mustard and extra chili. I want to try some of the others but I'm digging this chili dog too much.
The drive thru is pretty efficient and there is usually a nice youngster taking your order. Don't let their youth give you any doubt. They are quite efficient.
The prices aren't bad and if you don't go there often it's a treat. So if you haven't been, you want to try them. If they're busy, get in line and be patient. It's...
Read moreVery fast and efficient. It is almost like you place the order and it is ready a few seconds after. You can see them running around like the speed of lightning knocking out orders. You can also see how they really work hard to keep their place clean. The people at the windows whether it be drive thru or the front is very respectful, polite and helpful. If you are visiting from out of state it is a great place to try the taste of New Mexico. I suggest the Zia Dog or some green chile on a custard if you want that true 505 experience. They are even helpful with directions for people new to the town. A great place to bring friends and family and have a wonderful time enjoying the caliches. I love to get food there because the atmosphere is so inviting and friendly and makes you feel at home. Some of the people at the register even have a nice talk with you about your day. I suggest this to anyone and will continue...
