I originally reviewed Icebox about a year ago. They were a contender for the best beer in Las Cruces. Now, they are the undisputed champs. First, they have three locations. The original location on W. Picacho, where are the magic actually happens, the location on highway 70 (N. Main) and the newest location on Main St. across from the Plaza downtown. Each has it's own ambiance and food selection and all are really good. In my opinion the location on Main St., also known as The Boneyard, has the best food, and the tacos are not to be missed.
All that said, let's talk about the beer. So many amazing choices throughout the year it is hard to have a favorite. The one that currently sticks out in my mind is the Cervila, which is an Imperial Sour, aged in Tequila barrels and coming in at a robust 10% ABV.
On the other end of the spectrum is the Icebox Light beer. It is the beer every craft brewery should have their own version of. It is for those friends of yours that never want to go to a brewery because they don't have Coors/Bud/Miller etc. It is a light, low alcohol American style lager that drinks easy and does not offend those who aren't hopheads or strong ale drinkers. It finishes at 4.5% ABV.
For the IPA fan there are, at any given moment, two to three different types of IPA's.
If you prefer a STRONG ale, I would suggest the Icebox Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. It comes in 13 oz. glasses, but that is because it packs a punch at 9.0% ABV.
For those of you with wine drinkers in your group, the Brewery carries a selection of Reds and Whites made here in New Mexico, for any palette.
They have an online presence at Iceboxbrewing.com, and they are also on the Beer Menus app available at the Google Play Store.

Read moreMore than five stars! Every single part of our experience at Ice Box on Pikacho was 100% top-notch. We loved the spacious outdoor patio with two-top picnic tables and a view of the mountains on one side and the colorful sunset on the other. Everyone who attended to us was awesome! Choosing from a list of about thirty (!) beers on tap (all but one of which were still available) my husband and I each had a flight of four, and all of them were delicious! The TIPA was his favorite and the Las Cruces Common Ale was mine. As if that weren't perfect enough, the brewery offers a full menu from Jim Bob's BBQ. Our BBQ sandwiches were served on thick, toasted bread -- a bun will never feel right again. This bread provides a perfect counterpoint to the meat, and exactly the right amount of sauce was already applied, leaving plenty of room for experimentation with the EIGHT amazing sauces brought to our table in color-coded squeeze bottles: Original Ring Sauce, Beer Barrel BBQ, So-Carolina Mustard, Bama-Blanca BBQ, Sweet and Smoky BBQ, Chili Verde, Lexi Dipping Sauce, and Spicy BBQ. I heartily recommend the Ice Box Brewing Co to anyone who enjoys trying new beer and new BBQ tastes. Can't wait to visit again...
Read moreWe ate there last night and I just wanted to share some feedback. I want to say that the beer and pizza were amazing and the pizza was large, no complaints about that. My concern is that from the time we walked in, we heard an extremely loud popping noise very similar to gunfire going off inside the building. I know it was inside because we asked the waitress where the noise was coming from and she pointed to a couple of men sitting at the bar and replied, “Oh I think one of the customers is setting off firecrackers”. It was more sudden and louder than fireworks and you could see people jump each time it happened. A couple near the door eventually walked out due to this. It happened about 8-10 times while we were there. I didn’t notice any staff trying to address this. C’mon I know it’s Halloween but should have been stopped so people aren’t feeling disturbed. Also I’m nearly positive it’s illegal to set off fireworks inside. It was bad enough that I did briefly consider calling LCPD. Kind of gave a “bad bar” vibe and disrespectful to 99%...
