Absolutely THE BEST Italian restaurant in Las Cruces!! We moved to Cruces years ago from a large city with a slew of authentic Little Italy restaurants and never thought we would be able to find an Italian restaurant comparable to the quality we were used to. We decided to try all the Italian restaurants in Cruces and by far Lorenzo's is hands down the best!! No other place is even close. Furthermore, after multiple visits there, my wife and I believe Lorenzo's is better than any Italian restaurant we had in our Little Italy back home. This place has it all. The other Italian restaurants in the area are aptly named...you can literally Forghedaboudit and others after some of the experiences we've had. The food, the service, and the unbelievably great people is what separates Lorenzo's from the rest. The first time I took my Italian wife there, Vince the owner, came around to ask us about our experience. Upon telling him about our wonderful experience he literally sat down with us at our table like we were family for a delightful conversation. It was fascinating to hear about the creation of Lorenzo's and the lengths that he pursues to provide the best quality of food possible for his customers and to keep that quality ongoing. Furthermore, it was refreshing to meet the owner and family of an establishment that is as upstanding and great as the food itself. They're integration, commitment, and selfless dedication to the community is something to marvel at and represents the friendly nature that Las Cruces exudes. Their love of the community definitely manifests through their mouth watering food. It starts from the moment you sit down. The dough used for their bread and pizza is incredibly delicious. It has that perfect blend of soft and chewy that keeps you craving more. This, coupled with fresh and unique ingredients, make the variety and quality of their pizzas outstanding and delicious. A must have are the incredible and unique meatballs. We definitely request them as a side each time we're there. We consider ourselves meatball aficionados and these are the best we have ever had by far. The dinner entrees and desserts are just as fabulous and filling; made with the freshest and finest ingredients from all over the country or world in some cases. The tiramisu is a perfect example of this. It is on a level of its own with its perfectly subtle, sweet, and savory cloud like texture and taste. Their wine selection is just as delectable. We highly recommend the perfectly balanced moscato. I very rarely leave reviews and only do so when warranted. This place deserves all the praise, patronage, and gratitude for everything they do. I can't speak highly enough about everyone and everything that make up Lorenzo's. You will ALWAYS feel like family when you are there. We can't wait for our next visit and phenomenal...
Read moreDined with family in August 2023 and we enjoyed the Carbonara. Returned on Saturday December 9th and found the food quality & portion had changed. Had to ask when plate was delivered if it was a half or full portion, looked like a half. Also noticed no chucks of ham but plenty of green peas. What few pieces of ham it had, it was clearing small pieces of "sandwich meat". Provided the negative feedback to the founder/owner and he didn't contradict our observations other than he has had the same two "Chefs", the term must be overused to describe average food prep, for 19 yrs. He added that they weigh everything but may not have done something different. What he failed to do was realize this was no acceptable Carbonara dish nor offered to remake it. He offered a dessert since we were not satisfied. How about making a quality dish for which you charge $18??? The owner apparently re-engaged with the restaurant in August around the time when we first visited. Seems financial choices were made to cut cost & corners on making the Carbonara and it shows POORLY. You won't see the two "Chefs" being recognized for their culinary prowess but choices like using "sandwich meat" most likely was not their decision as it is commonly ownership that makes that call. We were left to believe the owner will not accept responsibility for the food quality, reduced portion and will not return. With all the 5 star ratings this restaurant is deceiving and is not even close to Italian restaurants we have enjoyed throughout the U.S. and Italy. Had a better meal at the hotel we were staying and it was the complimentary breakfast, sad. Hope some self reflection and quality changes can improve things for Lorenzo's. The server, house wine and bread was...
Read moreFirst time eating at Lorenzo's. My sister and my niece had recommended for us to go. I was not impressed at all. My husband and myself ordered Salmon and Penne pasta. My step daughter wanted the same as well. We were told, they only had two Salmons and so my step daughter had to chose something else. We also ordered burcetta as an appetizer, which they call battery. When it was brought to us it was the worst web had tasted. The bread was soggy from an overload of white goat cheese with a lot of Basil and it had mirinera sauce on it. So we just one taste of it and no more. When our Salmon was brought , it was very under cooked and dry. The pasta was under cooked as well and both had no flavor and no taste. When were asked if our food was good. I told the waitress that my food was not cooked , nor was my husband's she offered to replace my Salmon, inwhich I responded that she had told us they only had two Salmons to cook. She changed her story and said they had more , but it takes a long while for it thow out. My husband told her, he was taking it home to the dogs and I accepted for them to cook it again . I was brought another what seemed the same Salmon and now it was recooked more. We ended deciding to leave . Before and the manager came to excuse the food wasn't prepared right. He offered a desert to make things right. When we got home we did offer the Salmon to our German Shepards , who love to eat Salmon. To our surprise, non of our dogs wanted to eat the Salmon, we offered it to them several times and they all refused to eat it. That is the first time they have ever refused such...
