I have ate at Salud several times, in the past, and have invited others. I have always enjoyed the good service, treatment and food. Last night (Feb. 24), @6:10 p.m.-7:20 p.m., was an entirely different experience. I was very disappointed and hurt by the service and treatment given to me. Was it because I looked very nice? The prettier I look or nicer I dress? That I look to be another race...not white/Caucasian/Anglo Saxon?
I asked what kind of other drinks non-alcoholic and not pop did they have? The waiter mentioned a Lavendar lemon tea of sorts so I ordered, as well as a few others. The waiter mentioned that it was very sweet. When we received, it was not at all. Two in our group even placed the bad sugars in because of the lack of sweetness. I ordered the seared ahi tuna and it was very thick and completely bright cherry red. Very unhealthy and ill prepared. The manager explained to me what seared was. Condescending. I have traveled a lot and eaten at a lot places. My friend which is very knowledgeable about food even mentioned that was not safe to eat how it was.
I wanted my check and I was made to wait, even after I got up to ask for again from the manager. The female manager had a smirk/ smile twice when I asked for a third or fourth time, at that point, telling me I would get it or be brought to me. She had at that point brought us four cups of free tea? Even though, when asked if we wanted anything else none of us had asked nor requested.
The manager did come to ask me, originally, about the fish and the waiter's service. I mentioned how when he brought me my tea with less ice since I had from the start requested he brought my cup of tea dripping wet all over with tea. My fingers were completely covered with tea...all wet...i asked for a napkin and I told him the cup was all wet and showed him my hand and fingers. He said he'd bring me some napkins but left me with my hand extended and wet with tea and turned to the others asking for their orders. I mentioned again that I would like a napkin and he said oh do you want a napkin now?! He brought one and I cleaned my hand and the entire wet cup. Another thing I did not like was , at one point, his face was very close to my face when I asked about a dessert I wanted to order (the Mexican tiramisu). Too close. He said they did not have that dessert. When I mentioned to the manager, she said did not have and asked if I wanted another which I mentioned I did not and not anything else but she kept insisting on my having a buttercream cake which I had to restate, at least three times that I did not want anything else and wanted my check.
The atmosphere was very noisy, also. Not...
Read moreIf I could give this experience at Salud 0 stars I would. Itâs Motherâs Day, and they explained the $35 buffet they were having. We obliged, thinking the food would be good as usual. After we sit down and are greeted we head to the buffet for food. What is left is dried out and cold. They inform us they are restocking enchiladas and the prime rib. We find a few things to place on our plates and head back to the table. Chicken was cold and more than undesirable. I head back to the buffet to see what is restocked and still there is not much of anything. Any food that is at the buffet is unattended and still sparse. We considered leaving the moment we sat down with what we had but wanted to give it a chance. Time goes by and we were able to try the prime rib and mac and cheese. Meat was incredibly tough and almost uncuttable. After a few bites of everything which was unsatisfactory we let the server know how bad the food is, and he sends over the manager. The manager on duty was worse than the food itself. He was rude and constantly stated over and over again that because we consumed the food we will indeed have to pay for it. Trying to level with him was no use. He did not care to hear us out or make anything better out of the situation. We were not looking for a free food, we had every intention of paying for a good meal. The fact that we hardly picked at what scraps we were even able to get and for the manager to tell us âWell you knew it was a buffet and you agreed to our prices when we sat youâ is absolutely absurd. He talked down to us as if it was our fault for not going back a 4th time to check what else had been ârestockedâ. Forget the food, the manager should be embarrassed as to how he handled the entire situation. After getting no where with him he said he would speak with the owner. Never came back to the table, and sends someone else to drop off our $88 check. We left a tip and the cash for the bill. As we walk out he is clearly seen standing with the servers near the bar and kitchen door, and he says to them âDid you not make sure they paid before they left?â (We sat there for 5 minutes waiting for someone to come by and pick it up) Completely rubbish attitude and management. Salud should be ashamed they have such an incompetent manager who would just like to argue with the customers. Nothing can make up for how he talked to us. Thank you so much for everything Salud. Your poorly executed buffet and manager really...
Read moreIt has been 6 months since we visited this relatively new restaurant to the Mesilla restaurant scene and posted a review Open Table during the brief time this restaurant subscribed to this reservation service. At that time we were not impressed with colorful bagel bread nor the restaurant's not understanding meal courses are not meant to be served simultaneously. We were impressed with bloody mary, which came with so many condiments that it could serve as meal itself. This visit was for breakfast, and they are still serving colorful bagel bread with honey butter. The bloody mary is now is now add any condiments you wish from the bloody mary bar. Condiments included, pickled okra, bacon, olives, black and green, and pickles. The bar tender fills the glass with the vodka and you add the tomato juice. The spicy bloody mary mix is very spicy. We had the Salud omelette with kale salad and make your own egg benedict with fruit salad. Both were fine, but the kale might be good for you, but no amount of salad dressing can this very non-succulent vegetable tasty. The menu is quite sparer than when we first visited, so the restaurant has attempted to adapt to what its patrons want.
As a result of tasting some of their cheeses at their booth at the recent Taste of Las Cruces. We decided to revisit this restaurant and try their cheeses. To find it, look under brunch antipasto, either meat and cheese or pretzel/cheese. We tried the former and the tray contained chorizo and salami with a chili cheddar, dill white cheese, brie with sunflower seeds, honey, chocolate chips and blueberries. Very tasty. We had house and prickly pear margaritas, where the tequila pours were ample. We also tried the toasted raviolis, which is a St. Louis favorite. The menu has evolved, since we last visited and that is to the good. No multicolored bagels or...
