TLDR: 10 out of 10. Service was great. The food was even better. The decor is simple and unassuming (the focus is on great food and amazing service). The prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity delivered. We had a wonderful experience and fully expect to return.
We stopped in for lunch on New Year’s Day (2024) craving Quesabirria tacos. We were warmly greeted and promptly served. The person taking our order was very kind, patient, and helpful with recommendations, informing us they make their own corn tortillas and have both beef and goat birria. They also do large quesadillas or smaller tacos dorados (smaller fried tacos). My wife got the beef birria quesadillas and I got a goat birria quesadilla and we ordered a horchata, to which they provided free refills.
When the quesadillas were served about 7-10min later (quick service!) the came with onions and herbs (packed separately), 3 kinds of hot sauces, limes, and a sizable consume for dipping.
The birria had the right amount of seasoning and flavor and was wonderful on its own, but I also liked the mild orange hot sauce. My wife said the others were quite spicy (she enjoys the heat). The goat birria had a few tiny bones (that’s normal and you know it’s being made from scratch) but if that’s not your thing, the beef did not have that issue.
The corn tortillas were perfectly crispy and soft in all the right ways, and the cheese balanced the savory, tender meat filling well.
The horchata was house made, and as a result was a little more gritty than the powdered junk you might get elsewhere. The flavor was on point with the proper amount of cinnamon.
Everything was so good we ordered another beef birria taco just to give a better, well-deserved tip. It came out hot. The taco was sized well, being about 1/3 the size of the quesadilla (proportionality sized for the price). If my wife orders again, 2 tacos will likely be the right size for her.
When I next crave birria, I now know...
Read moreThis is not barbacoa. This is carne de rez. Was not good enough. Paid $43 for a pound and 2 sodas and was charged $1.50 for custom order and she couldn't explain what that meant. 1 out of 10 stars.
Update: Owner responded to my review without even asking questions, just assuming he or she knows everything. He said the $1.50 was for using the card machine to pay and that is says so in red letters on the screen. Well unfortunately for me, both screens were not on and I had to scan a barcode to see the menu so there's no way I could have seen the red letters. He also mentioned they are the best Barbacoa place in town and while that may be true, they were not to me. Barbacoa for me comes from a cow, not a lamb. So it was different for me and I am entitled to my review and I stand by it.
Service was good and restaurant looked clean and smelled good. JUST WAS NOT FOR ME...
Read moreI went to this fabulous, small but super friendly, authentic family owned restaurant last night, after reading the stellar reviews about it by people in my neighborhood. From the moment I walked in the door, I was happy I did. The people were kind, and welcomed me with a smile as though I was family. The food was top notch, made with tender loving care with high quality ingredients. The tortillas were fresh and homemade right in the kitchen for all to see. Everything is made in small batches too. They make a "tomato sauce" that is unique, and has a tang and a kick of heat and a whole lot of fantastic added as the key ingredient. I can't wait to try more of their menu selections. You'll find great barbacoa and food by the pound where flavor abounds.
