I don't think I need to go to Cafe Rio anymore. I arrived to pick up an order for my wife on her lunch. Approaching the order line, the cook preparing tortillas failed to acknowledge my existence. The entire line of preps, cooks and order takers looked high out of their mind. a majority of the experience, the people mumbled through my order and I found myself repeating several times. I couldn't make out any of what they were trying to say.
I looked away a few times, but, for the most part, workers are sluggish, unresponsive and spending too much time talking to one another to take down an order correctly. I asked for the salad dressing on the side for the 3 salads i ordered. Another worker came up to close the salads, I asked for the salad dressing and chips on the side. The girl ringing up my order took everything down again and asked for my meats and order.
She was less than 2 or 3 feet away during the entire order. Some one wondered off to get lids for my salad dressing so I stepped aside while she took another order for another gentlemen. I looked back, my order was bagged and they handed me the last item with a lid. Great -- i thought leaving the restaurant and heading back to drop off the food. Needless to say, the orders were wrong and I was missing dressing for all of the salads.
I ended up visitng another cafe rio, that said in the future, to get a house salad..mind you, this is salad dressing for an order thats assumed is going to go on every salad that you order -- that is handed out as a condiment.. I would have to go back to the original cafe rio to get the house dressing. Amazing.
I am in the process of reaching out to customer service as this was an order for several people and not only my spouse. In a nutshell, I will have to get further with customer service before I step foot into another cafe rio again.. the fact that they have an option to leave a tip for a bunch of brain dead cafe line workers is a joke. either increase the hourly wage for these airheads or find workers that can actually comprehend the orders when I am speaking to them less than a few feet away.
Honestly.. this location has a severe problem with people more focused on working on getting co-workers phone numbers rather than getting people who will pay attention to the customers driving the business....
Read moreI've only been to this location a few times. This was the first I'd seen it so unkempt. As we moved through line, the young lady pressing the dough had her phone directly on top of the back food counter (where the dough press machine was) and while she was working with dough (with gloved hands), she proceeded to pick up her phone to look at it. Never took the gloves off, never changed the gloves after, then went on to scooping flour into a bag. Further up the line, everyone was working hard and fast but NOT clean. The food prep counters were A MESS with dropped food. From cheese to lettuce to meats and fresca. Food had dropped from one container to another so as the line person scooped fresca into a bowl, the consumers were in for a treat when they found a piece of romaine lettuce in the middle of the fresca cause the line person certainly didn't scoop it out. But they covered it in cheese so there's that. We ordered chips and guacamole and recieved 3 small scoops of guac, not even close to filling the container. No offer of fresca or cheese on top, which has always been offered on previous visits. We were moved forward in the line, to the cashier while they were scooping so we didn't see them not fill the bowl so we didn't realize until we got home and by that point i wasn't looking to drive back to get it fixed. Waste of money, tho.
Overall, the food wasn't bad, not great but not bad. Service was ok but MESSY and the people behind the counters weren't friendly. Told the cashier about the girl on the phone but not sure what happened there. I'd like to give them another chance but after this experience, I'm not really in a hurry to go back. It kinda sucks. I really do like Cafe Rio but they need to be trained on how to work fast AND clean while they work AND TO NOT BE MESSING ON THEIR PHONES WHILE...
Read moreWent into this location on 3/15/24 around 6:10pm and the young man preparing orders had theeeee nastiest attitude with everyone that came in to place an order .. I’m from cali and I’ve never had an issue with any order from cafe Rio .. I ordered pollo asado nachos even though I usually get shredded chicken or steak (the shredded chicken & steak looked old and dry) .. so I went with the pollo asado which I had never had but it looked the freshest out of all the proteins.. Got all the regular toppings and of course I had to ask for extra because the amount of toppings that they try to send me off with could barely cover half of the chips .. they charge for extra as well which doesn’t make sense to me (charging extra for protein is understandable) but for the simple toppings it makes no sense ..the counters were filthy as usual and the toppings looked old … i asked for jalapeños and the lady tried to lie and say they were out.. just too lazy to go get them so the cashier went and got them .. I don’t understand why these ppl apply for these jobs but don’t want to do what they applied for … the food was ok .. I didn’t expect the meat to be on the sweeter side but more so a little spice it was hard and crunchy as well .. had to add lettuce at home to avoid another up charge ..only good thing about my experience was the cashier .. he was very friendly and attentive.. not just to me but everyone I seen him cone in contact with .. it says Ezra on my receipt so I’m assuming that’s his name … if it is .....
