I gave a 1-star review only because Google won't allow me to give our service zero stars or negative. I used to go to Sammy's regularly in the past, to 3 separate locations in town and was always pleased with the service and food. Today was Mother's Day and my husband and baby and I happened to be driving down Sahara and he asked where I wanted to go and he's never been to Sammy's and I spoke so highly of it that he was set on eating here. Shane was our server. I counted 2 tables when we walked into the restaurant that had parties eating. We chose to eat outside on the patio and there were only 3 other tables besides ours with families eating and Shane and another server tending to all 4 tables plus the 2 tables inside. That's a total of 6 tables with 2 servers, or 3 tables each. For whatever reason, the other server was adimantly tending to all his tables without the need for anyone assisting him with refills or entrees. However, our server Shane was absolutely awful. My husband was drinking water and when his glass was empty, we waited over 25 minutes for our server to even come to our table to ask if we needed a refill. I just told him to bring a pitcher so we could refill it ourselves. Then, it took him another 10 minutes to finally bring the pitcher. That was 35 minutes during our meal that my husband had an empty glass with nothing to drink with his meal. At one point he actually told me he considered drinking the water out of our 18-month old son's bottle. It's summer time and 100 degrees outside and Shane the server can't even refill an individual water glass in under 40 minutes. To make matters worse, Shane didn't even deliver our appetizer or our entrees, he asked two separate hosts to deliver those to our table. I actually felt sympathy for the hosts having to deliver his meals to his tables when the other server had no issues tending to all of his customers' needs and refills without having to rely on the hostess station to perform his job for him. I used to work in the restaurant service industry here in Vegas and my former employer would have fired me on the spot had I given the type of service Shane gave us. I have never once filed a negative review on Google and especially not one regarding food service. My husband and I go out to eat several times a month and even being middle-class, he always tips well regardless but he was so upset today because he felt like this experience ruined my Mother's Day that we left without a tip. I called to speak to a manager afterwards to advise her that I don't fault her, but having servers like Shane are negativitely reflecting on not only her but the establishment as a whole because my husband had such a bad first impression as a result that he was set on never eating there again. The manager was very sweet and she apologized, even though I know it's not her fault, and she encouraged me to come back and put us on the manager's list. I will not fault Sammy's for our less-than-poor service (unless they read this and keep servers like Shane working there), but it really does affect the atmosphere and reputation of the restaurant when one bad apple has the ability to ruin an entire dining experience for a...
Read moreTried going to the southwest location yesterday after I received a $100 gift card for my birthday. Had been going to there for years but it is now permanently closed. So we ended up going to this Sahara location for Happy Hour. Apparently that Las Vegas restaurant gift card has a few different options. We had a few drinks and a couple appetizers from the Happy Hour. We also had entrees from the normal menu. Abigail brings the check and it totals $128, I hand the 100 in gift card and my discover card for the remainder. She walks away then comes back telling me the check is now $166 because I cannot use the gift card during Happy Hour. Never does it say that on Sammy's menu or on the gift card's website. Never saw it on Sammy's website either. Abigail says there's a sign on the bar that says it. The bar that is on the other side from where we were sitting with our kids, thus impossible to see. Very silly. I reluctantly tell her ok to charge me the $38 more. How are they going to change the price and add to the check AFTER it has been presented? Besides, only a few of the items on our check was from Happy Hour. I can clearly see now why they are going out of business. I have been working as a server/bartender for a decade now and have never experienced anything like this at any place I have worked at or dined at. This is the first negative restaurant review I write ever. I am very understanding when it comes to my industry, but this was just unfair and silly. Sammy's Woodfire Pizza you should probably not participate in that Las Vegas gift card since you are loosing customers. Thanks for leaving a sour note on my birthday! (The Short Rib Entree sucked anyway.) Abigail your service was good, I'm sure there's better job opportunities for you than a...
Read moreVisited Sammys for the first time and fell in love! We were a group of 5 celebrating a birthday. The service was excellent. The cuisine was next level. To start we had crab and shrimp dip which was so tasty. Inside there were and and artichokes and actual baby shrimp! We also had the Mediterranean Sampler. I adore babaganoush and it tastes as though they had even roasted the eggplant before purifying it. The toasted sesame seed oil added a whole new level to the dip. For my entree I started with the Lobster Bisque. The Sherry flavor was definitely forward but not overpowering. I really enjoyed the diced shallots that came through and finding the chunks of lobster through out. Then came my Greek salad which I celebrated initially based only on it mammoth size but the details of the salad were beautifully executed. The kalamatas were sliced and the pieces of feta were large and scattered throughout not just sat on top like a decoration. Finally came the dessert! A tall wine glass stuff full of premium vanilla ice cream, smothered in chocolate syrup, scattered with chopped walnuts and a very heavy hand of whipped cream. It was delightful and defying, a paralell enjoyment to eating this dessert is figuring out how the glass doesn't tip. In an effort to continue the amazing experience I ordered two make your own pizzas. All the ingredients were perfectly portioned and ready to compile. The making of my own pizza at home was so much fun and in all honesty was the best pizza I have ever eaten and trust me I have had a lot of pizzas from all across the country. Without a doubt or second thought I will return to Sammy's and I urge anyone reading this to do the same. I guarantee you will...
