I was prepared to arrive well in advance and pitch a tent if necessary, judging from the reviews of folks who wrote about the long lines for pre-order pickups around the holidays.
My pickup time was for Tues December 21st at 8AM. I was walking back to my car with enormous ham (I got the quarter-- WOW!!) in tow at 8:01AM.
The only confusion was that the pre-order line entrance was the "exit" door, which amusingly disoriented a couple of folks for a couple of seconds.
The staff were ON IT, congenial, and holiday-happy-- it was a cheery atmosphere!
And the ham.. OMG the ham...
Technically, I froze it until Christmas eve, and then let it sit in the sink to thaw overnight. Had it room temperature as suggested (though hubby asked, "aren't you going to heat it up?"-- we both think ham technically SHOULD be eaten served warm) and it was... DIVINE.
Several days later... I made THE MOST INCREDIBLE homemade ham sandwich I had ever eaten in my life. (make sure you use brioche... is all I gotta say).
It's a good thing it's delish, because we're going to be eating it for... ever.
Just kidding, I've portioned it... and the majority is back in the freezer. I told my husband, "I don't know WHY anyone would buy ham from a deli counter at a grocery... this HoneyBaked is the best deal around!"-- Tasty and the price is right!
I've been telling everyone, and everyone's been telling me back, "try the turkey next time!"
Definitely...
... Any way you slice it, it's gonna be good (see what I...
Read moreOne day I was craving roast beef but didn't want the hassle of going to the grocery store or having to wait the 2-3 hours for the meat to cook. Honey Baked Ham became the obvious choice to get an already cooked roast. After all they have pre-cooked ham and turkey. I rush to HBH and to my surprise I am directed to the freezer section for a frozen pre-cooked roast. I was told by the cashier on duty that I would need to thaw it for 24 hours, then it would only take 35 minutes to heat. That didn't help since I wanted the roast that day. The coast was $35 for a 5 lb roast serving 8-10 people. I was even convinced to buy a tray of frozen mashed potatoes. Once home I defrosted the roast in 2 1/2 hours then put it in the oven. The roast is a nice size and comes with gravy. Once heated the roast was tender and tasty. The gravy was a little saltier than I would prefer but my craving for roast beef was satisfied. Due to the cost I doubt I will go this route but will continue to buy my ham here during the holiday season. The employee was very polite and helpful. I also learned that HBH makes sandwiches to order. I did...
Read moreI did a prepaid ham order for curbside pickup today and it was terrible. DO NOT DO CURBSIDE!!! I waited over 30 mins and had to call numerous times for sales associate to answer my call. After telling the sales associate I'm still waiting for my curbside order and she said that they probably was looking for me outside, but couldn't find me. I'm not sure how you can't find me if I'm right in front of the store in clear view adjacent to the cashier! The area for curbside is not safe to park. There's a semi truck container parked on the side and the narrow opening for cars to drive through is a accident waiting to happen. I had to move my car a couple of times for them to barely miss my car. When my order did come out, the manager said that they're not equipped for curbside. Only the Centennial location. Well if that's the case, don't offer curbside at this location. Again, do not do curbside pickup or you'll be waiting for a very long time, both on the phone and bringing...
