Buffet Palace — Restaurant in Laurel

Standard Chinese fair. To ensure got fresh food, go when it is busy.

Waitresses have always been friendly and helpful. The hibachi grill is a nice bonus as is the sushi.

The only negative I've seen is when folks bring their kids and let them run wild. If they are under 10 they shouldn't be serving themselves at the buffet just like the signs say.

Last time we were there, a Sunday, two kids were running all over the place. The little girl squares and screened non-stop, spilled a drink on the tile right by one of the buffet bars, making it extremely dangerous and slippery for some of the older folks there. (Though staff had it cleaned up before the ice hit the floor, lol. It was still wet for awhile after.)

The little boy put his hands on several plates, carried them around against his chest and then put them back on the clean dish stack! Then he poked his fingers in some of the food, licked and poked again. 🤢 Not once or twice but the entire hour we were there!!! He never sat for more than 60 seconds once! He ran full speed around and around the Buffett.

Meanwhile Mom and Dad sat on their butts across the room as if they didn't have children! How do you not realize your 2 year old and 5 year old aren't with you at the table?! I guess the same way the dad didn't see his kid putting sticky fingers into all the food while standing next to him at one point! Everyone else noticed tho.

For the Laurel, MS area this is a solid three star joint. To me it was more of a two star experience as I have had exponentially far superior Asian buffet experiences. The sushi portion of the buffet was a one star experience on par or below grocery store pre-made sushi rolls. This buffet is MUCH better than the nearby China Wok that while far cheaper serves utter garbage food! Overall they have a decent selection here of pretty mediocre food. Most of the food items seem to be pre-made Chinese themed food that came out of some kind of package that just needed some reheating. Service was a bit slow in the beginning and then warmed up.fast to being very good.

Overall for the price it just didn't seem like a good value as I could have had a far superior steak dinner for around the same cost as this mediocre buffet. If you want to hog out and stuff yourself this might be a better choice...

The only thing that got me about this place was those air conditioner vents and I would not have noticed it if my kids didn't point it out.. but they look gross.. at least they're pointed away from the food 👀.. they have a huge buffet and a large hibachi selection, did I mention sushi? Buffets are always sketchy to me because too many people don't wash their hands after using the bathroom, it will make you want to fight someone.. other than that the parking lot itself needs to be updated and the outside of the building as well.. The place just screams "run down" until you get inside.. that visual factor just isn't there on the outside like you would expect for Asian restaurants. The restaurants used to bring a visual interpretation of their culture just seems kind of Americanized now.. if none of that bothers you, good, but if it does try to look past it just to taste their...
