Paraiso Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Laurel

When i heard this place was under new management, i decided to give it another try. The walkway needs to be replaced. I nearly fell. I never heard of a restaurant, that has a security guard frisk you before entering. The environment was not much to look at. I felt like i entered someone's poorly set up bachelor pad. I started off with a simple drink. Hennessey and coke. The bartender look lost. It two people 5 mins to find the Hennessy bottle that was sitting in plain view. It seemed that mixed drinks, were not their niche. I asked for a menu. I wanted to start off with an appetizer. That was canceled. The selection was sparse, consisting of very greasy and unappetizing offerings. So I ordered shrimp tacos, and chorizo tacos. The tortillas were greasy, and tasted stale. I ended up only eating the shrimp filling from the tacos. The chorizo was salty as the ocean. I gave up and didn't touch anything else. The owner said there was going to be entertainment that night. He said he hired dancers to entertain the patrons. I stayed for the show. Guys, save your gas. It was just two middle aged women in bikinis twirling around at the far end of the restaurant. The show only lasted 20,mins. I was imagining it to be like Coyote Ugly. It was just a hot mess altogether. I won't ever come back, nor would I recommend anyone to chill here. I rarely if ever leave negative reviews of places but this was god awful and I wish I could give less than one star! No one inside but the music is played so loud (on a Wednesday??) you can't hear a conversation with your table. Ordered Al Pastor tacos to split with a friend and what we got definitely wasn't Al Pastor. Then they bring two entrees instead of one that were the worst tacos I've had in probably a year. Two micheladas, two long island iced teas and 6 tacos somehow end up with an 81 dollar bill??? So even if drinks are somehow magically 10 dollars a piece three tacos are $20? Friend went to smoke and saw a giant rat leaving the place - probably because he couldn't stand the volume of the music either! I seriously don't understand how this place is still in business.

Edit: It's REALLY interesting how there are few consecutive five star reviews using the exact same phrasing about "ample parking" from accounts with only one review ever. I'm certain those...

I hate leaving bad reviews for small restaurants but this place………. omg NEVER again will i go there. their food has to be the most atrocious tasting food out there (yes, i know harsh) but seriously. my cousin and i stopped by since we are not from the area and we were craving latin food near us at the time, we saw this place and thought to just give it a try.. biggest mistake. we ordered wings to share and they were cold and tasted like old frozen wings as well as the fries that came with the wings, we also got a cheese and chicken quesadilla which was the worst quesadilla we have ever had in our life and i have had plenty as well as their pupusas.. not good!! the whole dish that was served with the quesadilla looked like it was a couple days old, soggy and incredibly brown salad, the chicken tasted literally RANCID the minute it touched your mouth!! the only decent thing was the chicken tacos and margarita. now i have food poisoning from...
