Finally stopped here last Thursday night, and was pleasantly surprised. I showed up about 8:30pm and was half resigned to finding a buffet full of dried up leftovers, but that was not the case. Won ton soup with some huge hand made wontons in it. Lots of fresh wings, and I saw them fill the tray a couple times while I was there. Good Teriyaki sticks. The Broccoli Chicken and Coconut Shrimp were both very good. There were precious few peel and eat shrimps left, but the ones I got were fat, juicy and tender and fresh Carolina shrimp from the coast. Or at least I am pretty sure of that. They sure tasted like it.
But the thing I found exceptional that is going to get me to come back was the Honey Chicken. Man, was that good!! The pepper steak was good as well, and a black pepper chicken fine if you like a little more spicy. There was some salmon I didn't try, but nothing else much with seafood food in it, though. No pork dishes either. Maybe it was because I got here late, but the desert selection seemed pretty sparse, but what I did try was good.
Really nice family run business too, where everyone was friendly and I saw a lot of smiles. which isn't always the case. For a Southern small town Chinese buffet, I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised with China Star and I will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe staff is courteous And kind. I would have really loved to see more vegetables available somewhere on this buffet, but judging by the conversations in the booths around me, it was pretty clear that I was alone in that opinion, so I had to settle for picking all the broccoli out of the beef and broccoli.
(.. sorry about that guys) That said, the food that I ate was good, broccoli a little undercooked but generally speaking it's flavorful, has a good texture/char, nothing was overcooked or dry or dying under a heat lamp, even though the business was relatively slow, I came at around 2:00 in the afternoon, had what I suppose is their lunch buffet for $16, and my water glass was never empty. Empty. Which is very impressive because I drink a lot and I've almost never been to a restaurant especially not in this area, especially not a self-serve restaurant like a buffet, that has a wait staff that are so attentive.
Kind, courteous, and If I had to guess, playing to their strengths based on their demographic of people who seem like they've never seen vegetables, everything in this restaurant besides the fruit/ vegetable quantity and quality was nice. It seems like a pretty tucked away local spot, it doesn't taste like weird chain restaurant food, and I would definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read more@Deborah Sheppard ,the situation when the styrofoam cups were put in the cup bin to be wash and reused was not true. The reason why they put the used styrofoam cups in the cup bin and not in the trash bin is because if they put the liquid filled styrofoam cup in the trash bag inside the trash bin. The trash bag will become to heavy to lift out of the trash bin when we dispose the trash out of the trash bin, so as you see. You comment you post on google review is completely false and besides, even if they decided to use reusable cups they wouldnāt even use the styrofoam cups at all. Instead, they will used cups that are designated to be reused. The restaurant 100% guarantee to all customers that they donāt reused form cups . An another fact is that your comment will hurt their small business during the COVID-19 pandemic by accusing the restaurant for something that...
