House of Biryanis and Kebabs Lawrenceville, NJ — Restaurant in Lawrence Township

I visited this restaurant twice recently, initially on 7/5/24 and again today (7/7/24) for lunch. During my first visit, my parents and I enjoyed the Apollo Fish, Chicken Tikka, Special Fish Biryani, and Goat Keema Biryani. While the Chicken Tikka was okay, the rest of the dishes were satisfactory enough for us to return today.

However, today’s experience was far from satisfactory. We ordered the Apollo Fish, Special Fish Biryani, and Goat Keema Biryani again. The Apollo Fish and Fish Biryani were average, but the Goat Keema Biryani was a disaster—it smelled bad and was undercooked or spoiled. When we brought this to the attention of the staff, we were informed that the goat keema had been used in another dish without complaints, which was not an acceptable response given our experience.

Restaurants are expected to consistently prepare dishes with the same taste and quality. If not identical, they should be close enough. Unfortunately, the lack of consistency and quality control at this restaurant was evident during our recent visit.

We hardly ate two spoons from the Goat Keema Biryani and did not expect a refund, but the restaurant didn’t bother to replace it with the same item or offer an alternative. This lack of customer service is unacceptable.

House of Biryani N' Kebabs offers a delightful culinary experience, perfect for anyone craving authentic and delicious Indian cuisine. During our recent visit, we enjoyed an array of flavorful dishes that left us thoroughly impressed.

We started with the Chilli Garlic Naan and Butter Naan, both of which were exceptional. The Chilli Garlic Naan had the perfect balance of spice and garlic, adding a nice kick without being overpowering. It was soft, warm, and perfectly complemented the rest of our meal. The Butter Naan, rich and buttery, was a comforting classic, fluffy on the inside with a crisp, golden exterior.

The highlight of our meal was the Lunch Special Halim with Kebab Platter. The Halim was rich, hearty, and bursting with complex flavors. It was expertly spiced, with tender meat that melted in the mouth, making it a satisfying dish that stood out for its depth and authenticity.

The Kebab Platter was equally impressive, offering a variety of perfectly cooked kebabs, each with its own unique seasoning and texture. The meats were succulent and flavorful, clearly prepared with care and attention to detail.

For the first time we ordered from this restaurant was for a home delivery through DoorDash . We ordered chicken 65 and fish fry and it was really delicious. So for the second time we thought to do a dine . As we enter the restaurant the ambience looked okay and there is this person in the front desk who didn’t look welcoming at all . It looked as if the boy had a bad day.

Anyways I didn’t feel warm welcoming to the restaurant. But since we were hungry we thought of ordering it . I see there is high recommendation for biryani . But we opt that out and ordered something different from the menu . We ordered tandoori chicken which comes with three big leg pieces. Honestly it didn’t meet our expectations , as it was not juicy and tender and the flavors didn’t blend together. Next we ordered some palak dal which was really tasty goes well with plain rice and garlic naan which we ordered too . For kid we ordered from kids menu section- chicken butter rice , my kid enjoyed it .

4 stars for online food which we ordered for the first time and the palak dal. Requesting the owner that his team works on their soft skills . We might try the biryani next ! I wish the entire team all the very Best !
