My 1st visit yesterday & 2nd today; that should pretty much sum it up. This small (they are expanding into the space next door, fall 2022 opening, get in now & experience the growth) slightly off the main track spot is worth a quick deviation from your normal path; 23rd & Iowa; north of Freddy's (behind the old CiCi's pizza location, OK RIGHT! Driven past it a million times like me?). The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The food is freshly prepared right in front of you. (if you sit at the bar or waiting for carry out). The smoked salmon rangoons are amazing. I got an order last night, didn't make it out of the parking lot before I ate one. The flavor is excellent, lightly crispy wrapper, stick with you essence; all the way home it kept saying "remember how good these are". I also tried the special Chilly Willy pork dumplings; what comes after fantastic? Superb! Today I tried the broken wanton soup; really good broth with a slight kick, wantons are very good. The chicken fried rice was really good too; I added spicy Chilli sauce & saracha. (note: there are some, perhaps derogatory, reviews saying "limited menu". I personally prefer a small menu prepared with care & excellence as opposed to a huge mediocre menu). The price is a little bit higher than nearby comparable places but I prefer paying extra to get great service and food.
Already planning 3rd visit.
(Edit 8/20/22: well it just keeps getting better) (Edit 1/27/23: BUSY Friday evening ALL hands on deck, including the owner. A few new specials for restaurant week, but I didn't try. Looked great. Lots of people ordered. I went with tried & true pork dumplings with chili oil...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI look forward to the days during the week when Sebās is open and I can order delivery from them or stop by to have a meal.
I love all of the veggie dumpling options, especially with the curry sauce. I always have ponzu sauce left over from carry out, and it makes a great, quick dressing for greens with a little balsamic vinegar added in.
I occasionally eat chicken, and can say that their fried chicken sandwich is out of this world. The butter masala chicken dumplings are honestly one of my favorite dishes. I usually order a side of rice with those, which is always short grain brown rice steamed to perfection.
Their fries are real fries, not food service frozen monstrosities. I rarely eat cheese, but have enjoyed the loaded kimchee fries. They are as hearty a cheesy, potato-y meal as one can find and the kimchee balances out the indulgence.
Even the beet and greens salad is comfort food for me. You can add fried or grilled chicken to the salad at a reasonable cost.
I love the little touches they take with the food, like adding sesame seeds to dumplings and dressings or little bits of cilantro as a garnish. All of these are optional, too, and dressing and dips are always served on the side.
Iāve been know to order multiples of dishes to eat throughout the week. The dumplings keep well and reheat easily, and the serving size is generous enough for 2-3 small meals (with salad or rice).
Every employee Iāve met has been friendly and fun, and Iāve had some interesting chats while waiting for to-go orders. I am glad they have good people working for them. I anticipate their continued expansion and hope they stick around and prosper for a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHoly moly!!! Mind blown by this place⦠we were in town visiting and didnāt expect too much. I grew up in San Francisco w a lot of authentic Asian food and dim sum dumplings, etc. So my expectations have always been pretty high. We pulled up and the parking lot and building looked underwhelming from the outside. I was about to be pleasantly surprised.
THIS PLACE BLEW MY MIND! Iām still wrapping my head around it:
Casual yet swanky in its own way. Kind of a speakeasy meets dive bar meets casual gourmet dining. Anthony Bordain playing on the bar TV, low lighting, booths to slip into, artsy waitresses, casual yet nice atmosphere, a foodie menu that consists of many creative chef touches. And those dumplingsā¦. Oh lawwwdddd! Im still thinking about them a month later.
We ordered the classic pork dumplings with the spicy sauce on the side (due to my child). They were PERFECT! Some of the best Iāve ever had. Perfectly soft and crispy, so flavorful, not greasy, not dry, not chewy, not overly salty. We devoured them way too quickly. We immediately ordered more. Eight was not enough. We ordered the fried rice without any meat. The waitress did mention the pork belly was delicious, but we were trying to eat a bit lighter. This rice was SO good! Very different than any fried rice weād ever had. Many unique flavors pops and you can just taste how much love and thought went into creating that rice! Itās a must try!
Our tastebuds were on cloud nine! We wanted to shout it to everyone to go eat there! We went back the next night and got more dumplings to go lol. If we lived there, this would be our go-to for sure!! I wish I couldāve tried more...
