Our first time trying chick-in waffle. As all other reviews state we were greeted promptly when we came in. We came for an early dinner so we were literally the only 2 patrons in the restaurant, people started slowly coming in as we were leaving. I wanted to try the BBQ with the waffle, but sometimes I have stomach issues so I just got the chicken and waffle with maple syrup. It was good. After what my husband got it seemed kind of boring, so I will try something different next time. But it was decent. The chicken was good, but just a very marginal waffle. Just kind of like I make at home. But again my fault for getting the most boring thing on the entire menu. My husband got the poutine fries. Okay oh my these are really good. They came out piping hot, and it was a huge portion. The fries were piping hot and crispy. There was a ton of chicken on it, and the gravy was delicious! This reminded me of a very elevated KFC bowl with fries instead of mashed potatoes. We will definitely be back for this again. I will probably try something different next time. We talked to one of the employees and he said the poutine fries or the garlic Parmesan fries are his two favorites. Food came out quickly, employees were friendly, and owner was friendly. We will be back. Place was very clean, only complaint was the floor was sticky (which is a pet peeve of mine). We wanted to try the churro waffle dessert but we were just too full. We will just split something next time so we can try a dessert. I...
Read moreI wanted to love this place. Maybe I came on a bad day but I need to leave an honest review of the food itself. I ordered a mix of items to try multiple things. The waffles, both Belgian and bubble were a 3/5 because they were tasty and the syrup was sweet but don’t keep well after a 10 minute drive home. They ended up soggy. The chicken strips were very large and juicy, taste was average I’d give them a 3.5/5. The mac and cheese was identical to stouffers, if not actually stouffers. 1/5 The chicken wings were supposed to be Nashville hot but had no sauce on them and were overcooked, TINY, shriveled up bones with feathers and dry meat on them. They firmly get 0/5 stars and look around to see if I was being punked. The frozen lemonade tasted watered down and gets a 2/5. Overall, the food was pretty awful but the customer service was A+ amazing and the place was sparkling clean. The story on the wall about how they got started was nice, I stopped the read the entire thing, but find myself wondering if the founders know how bad the food is coming out of their kitchen. If they see this, they need to send in a secret shopper and order what I got and see...
Read moreHey fam! I rolled up on this spot today because I had to be in Lawrence and my fiance wanted to try it. So I ordered the following through their app:
Queso Fries 10 Chick-in Bites Combo tossed in Asian Chili with Mac and Cheese, and Mr. Pibb. Hibiscus Tea Waffle Bites
Let me first start of by saying I was greeted by this really sweet lady when I arrived. She confirmed they had my order and I took a seat while I waited. It wasn't long until my order was ready and bagged up, ready to rock. Now, I'm an older dude and I walk with a cane. The person who greeted me offered to help me out, which I really appreciated. Extra points for showing a disabled man some kindness.
Got home with the food. Chicken? Mad tender and juicy! The Asian sauce was spicy without being too hot. My fiance loved their Queso fries and we both enjoyed the waffle bites. The waffle bites are like a cross between a waffle and a doughnut, covered with powdered sugar and paired with a side of maple syrup.
All in all, 10 out of 10, would do again! Thank you Chick-In Waffle for making my first time...
