Really good, dope idea. Not enough selection for the rotating bar, but I get it. The food was great but our server was terrible. I had two other people in my party; while another server was constantly checking in and out of the much larger party, our server basically ignored us for a solid 15 minutes after the initial meeting. I think he visited us six times in total; two of which were concerning the check. We had a couple of questions we had about the menu, he usually responded, with "Well, I can go ask," sounding like it was hassle. I felt like a job. A good way to just simplify the problem is to say our server was cold. To create a comfortable atmosphere, servers should be welcoming towards guest, but our server simply couldn't do that. Maybe he had a bad table before us, but he just gave off the body language that we weren't important. I overheard another server say this has been one of the 'busiest nights,' our server had one other table. To top it off, while we were still seated he started cleaning up around us, and when you're at the rotating bar, seats are closer so it was a bit awkward. We joked about not going back on our way out, but we were just so disappointed with the service. The place is going to be a great addition to Lawrence, maybe it wont make everyone feel anxious to ask for a...
Read moreTried this place for the first time & O M G.. new fave place! Being from California and working at multiple sushi restaurants for a decade, great sushi is hard to find; & this is the best sushi in Lawrence! Might be pricey, but it is absolutely worth every penny.
I got the Cowboy, the Samurai, & the Volcano. Probably some of the best rolls on the menu! Cowboy has torched slices of beef on top and it was delicious. A whole steak, crab, & shrimp dinner in one roll; the sweet & creamy notes were so satisfying. The pepper inside of it was not spicy, but added its own level of freshness & a bite/crunch that gave the roll a bonus texture.🤤
Samurai has a more savory, sour taste to is due to the sauce at the base of it. Mixed with the sriracha on top, it would be a great roll to pair with your alcoholic drinks, especially sake. 😍 The volcano was delicious but my least favorite. I don’t think the panko fry on the roll was great so if i order it again i will ask for it not fried. The miso soup hit the spot as well, not too salty, and good amount of tofu and wakame 😋
I can’t wait to go back for more sushi and to try their other offerings 🤩
Edit to original: the Volcano roll has grown on me and I order it every...
Read moreFirst time I drove by I seriously thought it was a vintage Mexican restaurant as I never read the sign but I was craving sushi so when I looked up places nearby I found this place. So glad I didn’t judge a book by its cover! Got the Philadelphia roll (8pc), tamago sushi and Tuna Sashimi and miso soup. Wish I could give an 4.5 instead of 4 cause it truly was great! Overall taste was great! However the Philadelphia tasted a little bit warmer but nowhere near it being bad for you! which is fine but personally I prefer a way colder sushi. Tuna sashimi with ponzu sauce was immaculate!! Definitely ordering it again! It’s my new favorite. Miso soup also fabulous!! Some of the best ive ever had! The Tamago was eh. Used to love it as a kid and thought I’d give it a try but it didnt look like normal Tamago and tasted super Yolky which I know is what it is lol. So wasn’t a huge fan but that’s just personal preference. Overall would order again just would be a bit more picky. Service was also great, super friendly and...
