Nagoya Japanese Cuisine — Restaurant in Lawrence

I'm a first time guest here at Nagoya and I wanted to try this place because 1. I've read pretty good reviews. But my hopes weren't hight since im a big sushi fan. However, I really wanted sushi today⁶ so you know what I went. I ordered pretty big for 1 person. I had Kure jwwwjwNagoya Poke 3.5 stars flavor was good the whole combination of flavor was there bit deep fried avocado is not a bad idea but it was too big for how the presentation was set up. It took a lot of the flavor from the whole meal. The red dried stuff they had with it my assumption was dried Radish with beats juice for coloring was a nice take. Next Nagoya Roll one of their specialty was too big to be even called sushi. I tried to eat and everything fell apart the Roll itself was really loose which made eating it difficult. Flavor not to bad little bland even with all the sauce if anything the sauce was all I tasted. Lastly 3 Roll special for $15 great deal for any sushi. I had the salmon avo shrimp tempura and snow crab. Snow crab was eh not much flavor and very dry. Salmon avo I feel like you can't really go wrong so imma leave it at that. Shrimp tempura was also okay just not what I am used to. Overall this place is okay if your looking for sushi and don't really mind this place is not bad but not my gonna be my go too. This place is amazing. I've contemplated coming here several times in the past but just never made it til tonight. I should've not procrastinated as this is now my favorite sushi place in Lawrence. They have a really great selection of sushi as well as a bunch of other Japanese dishes on their menu. I had the crab cheesecake appetizer to start and it was absolutely phenomenal. For my entree I had the dream roll and a California roll. The dream roll was delicious, I've never tried anything with lobster before I ordered this, it was really the best roll I've ever had. For dessert I had fried red bean ice cream. First time I've ordered fried ice cream in the city of Lawrence and get legit fried ice cream with the warm crunchy outer shell and the still super frozen ice cream inside of it. Literally every other place I've had it here serves it rock hard cold with no warm outer shell. I will definitely be going back to try more items...

My sister has an avocado allergy, so when I called and ordered I specifically asked for no avocado. I was overheard saying so. However when I got the order home there was avocado on everything! I called to see if they would remake the rolls, but because I insisted that I had asked for no avocado (rather than saying I had forgotten, as she claimed to have not heard) the woman on the phone said they did not want my business and would not remake them!!! By this point my sister is crying because people not accommodating allergies prevents her from eating out generally, and this experience is confirming why. They did refund the rolls, but I will never go there again or recommend them to anyone. I’ve never had such rude...
