Variety & Value • Offers a rotating selection: cinnamon rolls, cherry pastries, pumpkin donuts, old‑fashioned donuts, cookies, muffins, and more . • Inexpensive, with generous portions and strong perceived quality

After thoroughly enjoying the beautiful geranium railing boxes along the bridge adjacent to Barb's, we were in a great mood as we approached the shop. Seeing the advertisement for a summer [flea] circus coming to town made us laugh out loud, putting us in an even better mood. Then, we were met with a "we're Sold Out" note on the window of Barb's Bakery. We were bummed. This is our first ever trip to Northport, and since we live in Boston, it might be our only one... the reviews for Barb's were just off the hook, and we were already fearing Not trying everything we should, and then this happened. 😳

The traditional spot in Northport to get that scrumptious morning carb fix with timeless fried and baked goodness. The business has maintained the quality through a recent change in ownership from the founders to the new stewards of the heritage. It's more a seasonal business with limited hours. Do go for the tradition and support the business. You'll be delighted with their selection but don't be disappointed if they are closed in the off season. Community First.

What a quaint and cute place in North Port MI. The conversation on the entire drive from Traverse City to Barb's Bakery was my mom telling us how delicious the donuts were at this bakery in North Port. We couldn't wait to get there, as my husband and 10 year old son are donut lovers! We arrived and at first glance the place is adorable! I should mention we arrived at 1:15pm on a Tuesday afternoon 45 minutes before their posted closing time. We were so excited to go in and get our hands on their well known, definitely talked about donuts. We walked in and thank goodness they had donuts left to sell (my mom said sometimes they sell out.) The excitement quickly went away as the young lady helping us was not very friendly and seemed quite bothered we had come in. I believe in service with a smile and we did not get that at all. I asked about the kinds of donuts available, very annoyingly she quickly ran through what was in the display case. When it came time to pay my husband decided he wanted a coffee. Again this young lady was annoyed by us. If I ever find myself in North Port again I will stop for another donut, as they were delicious, I just hope next time we are greeted...

Loved this cute family-owned bakery! It was our family's first time to Northport and the bakery came highly recommended. Walking in felt like a beautiful taste of history as the bakery has a cute old fashioned charm to it. Cinnamon rolls are one of my favorite desserts and I absolutely fell in love with how Barb's Bakery makes them. So much so, that I convinced my husband to go back two days in a row so I could bring some back for our neighbors back home. The cinnamon rolls were surprisingly affordable too given how large they are (in fact, they probably could charge more than they do!) Other favorites of ours included the cinnamon twists and the pretzel twist pastry (not sure of the technical name, but it was oh so good!) There was a steady stream of folks who seem to be both locals and tourists. We will definitely...
