The food was incredibly fresh. I had the cheese steak sub which had an excellent flavor although I'd have enjoyed a little more cheese and a little more steak. They have three sizes of subs. Everything was on paper.
They will customize the subs, and offer to do so. The toppings are not set out like subway (which was fine with me), but they are pictured. You order first, sit and wait while they prepare it. It came up quickly, we had enough time to get our drinks. They have fresh brewed sweet tea and unsweetened tea in addition to a free-style coke machine with endless combinations.
The atmosphere is what you'd expect from a sub shop in a strip mall, but it did have a few props related to fire fighting. I couldn't see into the food prep area, but the dining area was clean.
Service wasn't over friendly, nobody welcomed us or approached us. That was good for me because I needed time to decide what I wanted. When I went to the register to order, they were friendly, helpful and accommodating. Kudos to them for a great experience.
Two things I didn't like were the fact that the menu was difficult to read and the chili was not what I expected or experienced before. I'd have liked to have handheld menus available the one behind the counter was difficult to see especially since the counter is very high. The chili was odd. It had the most finely ground beef I've every seen. It tasted like processed ingreditents quickly thrown together, but not cooked together. If you don't like beans in your chili, you'd likely enjoy it me than I did. It had three beans. Not anything to complain about. It just didn't meet or exceed any expectation I had. Don't let it stop you from trying it, you may like it. We didn't. That said, everything else...
Read moreI will never go back to this location. I love firehouse and wish they would get their act together here. The time before this review I waited for approximately 40min for 1 hero sub. The girl at the counter was talking to one of her friends (who was a customer) about how she doesn't work weekends and that she could take off when ever because she was a cheerleader at her highschool. After that conversation she then proceeded to offer the friend a job instead of making my sandwich. There were two other employees standing around talking as well. When I said something about how long it was taking they told me they were working on it. There was one gentleman in the back mopping and sweeping and actually working. After I got my sandwich dumb me for not checking I get home and it's not made right. So I call to speak with a manager and the girl who answered told me that they didn't have one no gm no region no area manager. I did not get anywhere with that, although they did offer to remake my sandwich but I declined mostly because I was fed up but also I didn't want to go back and wait for another hour. It has been about 2 months and this time the service (at the register only) was significantly better. The gentleman that helped me was pleasant and quick. However the rest of the crew could care less. The next guy just looked like he was done, done with work life etc... And the sandwich was made...
Read moreThey do not have their -ish together. While lunch time is a busy, and I am sure they wished they had 1 or 2 more staffing, the current lunchtime unit (I went on Wednesday) has no cohesion. They keep the online orders behind the counter and not on the "pick-up" tray like every other restaurant does, so you have to wait for THEIR attention to ask YOU "do you have a pick-up order?" and then they will hand your soggy order that was 'marinating' behind the counter and kept hostage. That is the USUAL. That day it was even worse as no one was paying attention to the 'pick-up' order line forming, and on top of that, I kept asking the TORTOISE pace of a worker (he's closest to the door/outside) if my name was in front of him and kept blatantly ignoring me till the manager 3-rows down kindly checked for me. I could tell some of them stressed and doing their best, but that guy and other(s) are sinking that ship.
Heck if you even let out a measly "sorry sir I will get to you as soon as I can" from the side of your mouth or some other half effort acknowledgement, it would be acceptable and add...
