I will start off by saying I've grown up on Sonic's. Its a known fact that I LOVE Sonic's! So when I heard we were finally getting one close to me, I was so excited! I've given this location 2 tries and now its settled for me. Not gonna waste anymore of my money hoping this location will get any better.
Within, the first couple of months of opening, I bought my usual, double sonic burger meal with tots and a sweet tea (and the family bought their usuals). Everyone had their food before me, and complained everything tasted off, ESPECIALLY THE SWEET TEA! After tasting mine, they were right, the burger was the biggest red flag for me, not sure what they could add to it to make it taste funny. The sweet tea was worse than the bottom of the barrel taste.
Waited a year to try again (a few weeks ago), ordered my usual AGAIN (skipped the sweet tea just incase). Everyone seemed pleased with the taste. I tasted the tots and shake on the way home, it all tasted fine. Not sure why but as I was driving I had the feeling to look at my burger because something was alittle off, I saw that they gave me a regualr single patty burger. I was beyond pissed, it just added to my resentment of this specific location.
I'm just done with this place. It be different if this was the first time they messed up, but it isn't. I could go to Chick-fil-a a million times, any state, and they will mess up once. Don't waste your time or money.
FYI Don't waste your time contacting their customer service or corporate. They will offer you a coupon for a single patty burger only (lol) and forward your complaint to corporate for review (if wanting a refund) only to never hearing...
Read moreI worked for Sonic as a teenager in a different part of the country. Where I grew up Sonic is equal to the Golden Arches, it’s where you get spontaneous Saturday limeades when it hits 100* and families constantly saw each other at the location nearest to you. Everyone had a favorite Sonic drink. It was a big deal on the first day that slushes & cream slushes went to half price each Summer.
It sounds crazy, but one of my main disappointments when moving into NoVA 4 years ago was the lack of Sonic drive-ins - the closest one was 45min away. I recently traveled back to NoVA again and found that Leesburg now has a Sonic!!!
To say that I’m picky about Sonic food and especially Sonic drinks is an understatement. Today, this location got it RIGHT. The cream slush is usually where locations mess up - using too much slush and not enough flavor & soft serve - and it’ll come out too crunchy from the ice and too thin. Quickly turning to watery disappointment. This one was just right! (although it could have used another 10seconds of mixing for even flavoring throughout). The slush we ordered with nerds was a FULL cup with a really generous scoop of candy and it had clearly been mixed in as it should be (this is NOT the norm, many places don’t bother mixing these into the slush). The fried items were properly done, not undercooked or overdone. I have only visited this location once and we didn’t order any burgers, so I can’t give the location a full 5-stars, but I suspect they are doing Sonic operations the right way - even located so far from where Sonic started ;) we...
Read moreI’ve been excited about this place opening in Leesburg for quite some time. It’s been forever since I’ve been to a sonic, so I was really looking forward to this place coming in. Assuming things continue to progress there’s plenty to be excited about, but be aware that they are still working out some growing pains right now. To be fair, I’m not sure exactly where they would open when they aren’t fully ready but maybe it’s to dip their toes in the water.
The food is really good for fast food. The burger here is much better than you would find at a typical fast food joint like McDonald’s or Wendy’s. The tater tots were just sort of meh, and so were the jalapeño poppers. But again, the burger was really good.
The car hop who brought my food out was very friendly, and I’m sure she brought the food out as soon as it was ready but it did take what I would consider to be an excessive amount of time. Maybe 10 minutes or so from the time I ordered.
The person taking the order through the microphone was also very friendly, and let me know that I could insert my credit card into the window for payment. Of course that didn’t work so it required more time for me to sort out how to pay for the food once I got to my car.
At this point, only about half of the drive up locations are working, and the traffic pattern is kind of weird so just be aware of that until they get all of those kinks worked out it’s kind of a challenge.
I’ll definitely go back, and will update the review once they get there see legs about them and start...
