If you have an itch for Italian that must scratched in Leesville, Joe's is fine; but it's just fine.
My partner and I ordered a pizza and combination platter, thinking that would give us the best opportunity to experience dishes across the menu. He had fettucine Alfredo, chicken parmesan, and lasagna. I had a Florentine pizza.
First, the food is weirdly sweet here. I've never tasted caesar dressing as sweet as what came with my partner's combo. If he told me it was thousand island, I'd not have asked further. The tomato sauce is also very sweet here. Which is fine--the sweetness grants a cohesive profile to the sauce, but the flavor is thin and undeveloped.
I'm mixed on my pizza. The crust was, at first blush, excellent: good and brown on the bottom, crispy edges, and very receptive to folding like a New York style pie. The toppings were pretty good. If you want something vegetarian, Joe's has options! It's refreshing to see so many vegetarian options in such a small southern town. However. By the time I finished my first slice, the toppings had begun to weep and the remaining slices were too soggy to hold properly.
Additionally, the menu was very broad. Many of the items seemed to overlap in their description. I think Joe's would be better served by narrowing their scope and offering a more limited selection of recipes they've perfected.
Overall, Joe's is just fine. Unless you want pizza, frozen groceries, or to make it yourself, Joe's is your only bet for Italian food...
Read moreI can not rate this restaurant high enough not only was the food fresh, affordable, and delicious but the staff was fast, friendly, and completely accommodating. It was my boyfriends birthday so I called ahead to see if I could reserve a booth for 8:15, not only did I get a friendly voice on the line but I also got candles on the cake happy birthday sung, our meal was ready when we got there and our waitress from the first phone call till we walked out the door (Mrs Isabella was such a delight) Everyone there was just amazing, even when we showed up late and stayed after closing not one time did they rush us or make us feel unwelcome in anyway. Even the manager assured me that we were fine and that we were not bothering them at all. I know u guys had already worked a full shift at least and still had to clean and close up and yet y’all treated us like royalty. A lot of other restaurants should take notes from u guys because this was the best dinning experience I’ve had the whole 10 years I’ve lived here. I would definitely recommend joes Italian restaurant in Leesville la to everyone. Thank u again guys my boyfriend said it was his best birthday ever. Keep up...
Read moreThere is not much to chose from when we come to Leesville to visit, but when everything was basically closed on Sunday, a friend mentioned Joe's Italian. We decided to give it a try. They were open, we were sat right away. We were waiting for friends so the staff kept checking on us several times while we were waiting. We ate the garlic knots, which were delicious, while we waited. When the rest of our party arrived they brought out more garlic knots and we ordered. The salads were delivered shorty after and by the time we finished the salads the food was delivered. The salads are the typical lettuce with tomato, onion and cheese that are served at restaurants as a starter. The food. Well, let me say we all ordered something different. We all tried each other's food. Everything was really well made and tasted great. There was good seasoning and balanced flavors. I think we found a new favorite place to meet.
Third time here and still just as amazing! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Every time we come into town we are making sure to get at least one meal here. I have tried 3 different dishes here and all have been exceptional. My husband found a new spicy favorite dish and gets...
