Mama Mel's Pizzeria — Restaurant in Lemay

Dined in tonight and I haven’t even been able to leave before writing this review - I’m sitting in their parking lot and letting my Detroit Pizza Baby digest before I head home. Wow, Mama Mel’s was a great experience. They were kind, accommodating (so accommodating 🥹), and very tasty. A small crew, who I could tell was working hard, really delivered a great experience. I came specifically for the Detroit Style Pizza and was not disappointed. The pizza is very filling, and I struggled through 2 pieces. The meal was reasonably priced and the service was fast. They had other orders being called in (several at a time) and they did their best to be efficient and pleasant. I will definitely return for the Detroit style pizza again. I cannot emphasize enough how amazing the staff was - I haven’t been met with that level of generosity and kindness in a restaurant in a long time, it was very refreshing. 5 stars from a customer who will definitely return (probably sooner than I should, but hey! I work nearby).

UPDATE I finally tried the Detroit pizza tonight and it is my new fave! So many amazing flavors and textures. From the burnt crispy cheese on the edge to the soft inside of the crust. There's just wonderful unique flavor. You can really tell it's homemade.And when I first tasted the crust.I almost wanted to cry. It's that good. The crispy crust has a wonderful smoky flavor around the edges. Tastes really authentic. It's a real home run ! I could eat it every day! Moved here recently and so glad I found this spot. Delicious quality food at a great price! . EVERYTHING I've tried is great! Hand breaded fried mushrooms are the best I have gotten anywhere! Limolian sandwich is awesome. You can tell the House dressing is homemade. Fried chicken salad is amazing. The cheesecake and tiramisu is also fabulous! Best potato salad you can get. All generous portions. Honestly I originally ordered Domino’s and watched the pizza tracker app alert me at 6:13pm that my pizza was out of the oven and being “double-checked for perfection.” It stayed that way until 6:38 then changed to “out for delivery.” My pizza sitting for over 20 minutes before leaving? No thanks. In hindsight I wish I could go back in time and punch myself in the balls for even thinking about not calling Mama Mel’s in the first place. Excellent prices, freshly made sides and tasty pizza. Seriously, if you’re reading this drop what you are doing and head over there. If you’re at work, take a lunch break now. If you’re employer doesn’t let you leave, quit immediately because you don’t need that kind of negativity in your life. You will thank me. 5 out of 5 isn’t even enough; for $20 you get 2 pizzas, a salad, and garlic cheese bread. Praise Jesus.
