We were here on 10/11 for dinner and dropped almost $250. The food was pretty bad and the atmosphere was loud but even worse was the management/customer service. I was really hoping I could figure out who the owner of the place as so I could have a discussion and avoid writing this review. I want local businesses and employees to thrive. But I couldn't find out who owns it or how to contact them so here is how our night went down:
We get there and order the calamari appetizer, we get it and immediately divide it up on our plates to consume. At first bite, it was obvious it was undercooked- or something. Nobody ate it other than the first bite.
Normally we would just leave it, not eat it and not say anything. The person bussing tables came and took the plates away. The waitress (who was very sweet and kind) came over and asked how everything was, my wife started to gently express the issue with the food and before she could finish the waitress said "it's the calamari right?" She then apologized and said she would speak to the manager about taking it off the bill. We were appreciative of the gesture, especially when she came back a few minutes later and said the manager agreed to take it off the bill.
Dinner comes, none of it was good. The taste was bland. As we were eating dinner, the waitress comes back and tells us that the manager had searched through the trash and said it looked like we ate most of the calamari and decided not to take it off the bill after all (which, again, we didn't even request from them in the first place).
Yes, you read that correctly The MANAGER of this restaurant SEARCHED THROUGH THE TRASH to, I guess, to save.... about $20 on a $250 bill.
Not only that, but she sent the poor, embarrassed waitress to tell us instead of coming to us and telling us herself- cowardice? We paid the bill (tipped the waitress well) and left with most of the food we had ordered still on the table.
Draw your own conclusion, but my advice? Do not eat here. Ever.
I am embarrassed on behalf of the restaurant owners, the waitress and the other decent employees. It's really too bad, we had eaten here before (several years ago, 2017) and we remembered it being a fantastic experience, so we were eager to...
Read moreThree of us went to dinner here to celebrate a friend's birthday, based on the reviews and a family recommendation. We were not disappointed.
Everything we had, from appetizers to the main meal and sides to dessert to the wine, was absolutely delicious. (I would go back just for the tiramisu. Seriously. While it was all great, that tiramisu was easily the very best I've ever tasted - there's just no contest.) The service was just as great as the food. They even brought out the tiramisu with a lit candle in it for my friend's birthday. Their menu prices were excellent, particularly given the amount and quality of the food.
The restaraunt is beautiful, with the feeling of age and experience , of gathering with family and friends for food and talk. It reminded me of the time I spent in Europe. Over there, going to such places is treated as an experience to be savored, not merely a meal to be eaten.
The sole issue was that we were foolish enough to go at 7:00 on a Saturday night. And while the setting may invite long talks with friends, actually doing it is something else entirely. The restaraunt was absolutely packed, inside and out, and the noise level was impressive. No one was being loud, but with so many people in there there was no way to keep the noise down. (Particularly with its stone walls and ceilings - there's nothing to dampen the sound.) We had a hard time hearing each other just across the table until it became less crowded around 9:00.
In short, I highly recommend going here - at very least for their tiramisu - just maybe not on a...
Read moreThis past Saturday 10/28 I had a surprise 80th birthday party for my father. Although I had never previously dined at La Dolce Vita, several people I know, highly recommended it for so many reasons…(delicious food, great ambiance and they had a banquet room for parties). So, I decided that based on all the recommendations I received, it was enough for me to reserve my dad’s party there. I am happy to write this review for anyone who is looking to host a party for whatever the occasion may be, as my entire experience from the day I booked the party to the day of the event was exceptional. Margie & Kasia were wonderful in assisting in my menu selection, final count was due a few days beforehand and when needing to add people last minute, there was never an issue. In addition, and worth mentioning, they allowed us to come in the night prior (as they did not have the banquet room booked for an event that Friday evening) to decorate and set everything up…alleviating the stress of having to do everything the day of the party. The food was OUTSTANDING, and everyone was raving the entire event. The servers and the bartender were so kind and delightful and so helpful during the entire party, from packing up some of the leftover food, to cutting up and serving the birthday cake, etc. They really did assist in helping make sure that the event ran smoothly. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect event and the best part…my dad was surprised and so, so happy! Thank you La Dolce Vita, I will definitely be seeing you...
