I love the food here and the servers are charming and attentive. It's one of the only places around with excellent, homemade(albeit expensive) food. I like the red sauce because its flavorful and doesn't give me heartburn.
Last time I was there I had a bad experience with an overcooked steak for carryout. It was the first time I had ever experienced that at this restaurant. I had had the same exact steak cooked the exact same way I've done nearly a dozen times in the last year or so. This last steak was a piece of shoe leather when I got home.
After returning to get a properly cooked steak the newer Manager that I had only seen this summer decided to tell me something to the effect of "make sure you get home to eat that quickly". I did nothing different than the first time and the second steak was cooked to perfection like usual.
Fast forward a couple weeks. I was sitting at the bar just an hour ago starting to talk to the waitress about his comment from my previous visit while I was waiting for my order. He started to wander over behind the bar to eavesdrop because he obviously heard me talking about my previous experience. I stopped talking to her because he was trying to listen.
He then felt obligated to come over and try to educate me on cooking carryover. I told him I wasn't interested in anything he had to say and he kept annoying me. Then he had the nerve to talk to me about raising my voice after he was being a pest. I decided to settle my bill and walk out. He insisted on following me out so he could have his last 2 cents.
I've been a regular here for a couple years now. Not anymore.
I won't set foot in that place if he's there. Way to lose a loyal customer because of your impotent self esteem.
He even followed me out the door.
EDIT: I want to add that he was staring me down and looked so angry at my dismissal of him, that I could've probably easily escalated that into a physical encounter if I hadn't decided...
Read moreIt’s been a few months now since we dined at Rosebud on Valentine’s Day but a recent conversation brought up the experience we had and I found it worth leaving here. The menu was excellent, and the wine list comprehensive. Food was lovely and the service attentive. Pricing felt appropriate for the environment Rosebud is trying to curate. However, the atmosphere was so discordant to the dining experience that we felt uncomfortable for the entirety of our stay and we won’t be back. The building itself feels like it used to be a cut-rate diner. The tables are crammed into the space and although the decor has been updated, the feeling has not been successfully replaced. If you look hard enough, the facade fades and you suddenly expect a plate of cold hash browns and oily scrambled eggs to appear. With too many tables forced into too little space and far too much background noise from nearby parties echoing off the hard surfaces, the ambiance absolutely fails to match the menu and presentation. Dated architecture and a cramped entry immediately offend, and the wonderful food, wine and service just aren’t enough to overcome that obstacle. Overall, we left confused as to why we’d just spent nearly $200 to enjoy wine and a Valentine’s dinner in what could best be described as a greasy spoon diner with an...
Read moreI went here about a month ago and had a bad experience. I decided to give this place one more shot within the last two weeks and had a bad experience twice in a row. My food was cold when it was brought to my table and my husband and I had to wait 10 mins before someone even brought us water. I ordered calimari and it was brought to our table in a soggy state and it was all breading there was no meat. My husband ordered steak and it was very rubbery and dry unlike anything I have experienced before. This was an utter shock to me as I was in disbelief, I thought this was a prank. When I told someone in management they were not very helpful. The manager came to our table and said we should have ordered chicken if we didn’t like the steak. Instead of trying to remedy the situation, the manager insisted we go to a different restaurant and was acting like a bully and staring into my eyes like the devil himself. I will not be returning to this establishment. I tried to give this place a second shot in good faith, in case it was an off day the first time. But to my surprise, it was an epic failure trying to give them a fair shot. You live...
