I stopped coming to these locations a few months ago after a couple of bad incidents at the Overland Park spot. Staff always seemed impatient with my children getting their yogurt, and the store wasn't ever very clean looking. I wanted to give them another chance here and am so glad that I did. The staff worker Joceliyn was more than kind to my kids, helping them pick out their treat, toppings, and even coloring pages, despite being incredibly busy. My youngest daugher is also a very nervous and shy kid, and Joceliyn was very soft spoken with her and patient. She also introduced us to a program they have to help my kids get more reading done in exchange for free yogurt which they were very excited about. I thought my experience may have been a one-off, but after talking to a friend from church, it seems to be a regular demeanor for her. My friend's son has many special needs, and Joceliyn was helpful and accomodating to them with the music volume and the gentle way she spoke to her son. It is just such a rare occurance to find people who speak so well to kids and create such a family friendly environment in this day and age. The both of us will definitely be returning regularly on days she is working. I feel awful I did not leave a tip last time and with such a surprising and POSITIVE experience I wanted to make sure she gets a shout out from someone on her amazing service. The world needs more people creating a good community and welcoming families and children without rudeness! I am very excited to return to this space now. See you soon...
Read moreI really want to like this place because my family loves froyo and frequented the previous business in this location. I gave it 4 stars because the froyo is delicious and there is a great selection of toppings. But the consistency is weird. It takes a really long time to get a good amount in the cup and it starts melting almost instantly. We thought it was weird the first time we went, the first weekend it was open, so we went to the 135th and Antioch location and it was the same there. The place opened a month ago and it's already falling apart. Went in today and the metal surrounds on the front of the machine openings are falling off, pulling the paint off with it. The machines don't look like they fit the openings and you can see into the back room. It just looks janky and looks like the remodel was rushed. Plus, the floor is always sticky.
I really enjoy Fifth and Emery's sense of community and hope they'll be around a long time. I just hope they'll take better care of...
Read moreStopped by today and I made a DELICIOUS tropical treat. This was SO good! How to: a bottom layer of fresh strawberries and mango, strawberry, blackberry, and kiwi bobas (mango&strwbry if you like less variety). Then I used mango, pineapple, and strawberry froyo, and filled big gaps with the island banana flavor. At the toppings bar I gave it a coat of tajin first, then fresh strawberries, peach rings, a dollop of mango boba in the center, and a zigzag of the light strawberry syrup they have on the far right. Price was totally worth it; everything was good! I suggest considering layering toppings on bottom as well if you don’t...
