Hy-Vee Pharmacy — Local services in Lenexa

I've had health issues for 80% of my lifetime, and as such, I've had a lot of experience with pharmacies. So, when I say this pharmacy is the worst one I've ever patronized, please understand that I'm not writing the following for some sort of misplaced retaliation by taking my personal frustrations out on HyVee.

About 70% of the pharmacy employees are very friendly, pleasant, and eager to help. The other 30% are merely there to earn a paycheck and not at all concerned with your experience. They're easy to spot if you frequent this location, so I'm not here to name names.

This pharmacy has been out of meds I've had called in 90% of the time, and the worst part is, they don't notify you that it's out of stock or on backorder. You have to wait so long that you become frustrated and have to call in to get a status update. THEN they'll tell you it's out of stock, et cetera.

I had a very odd experience when I went into this particular pharmacy one time when I wasn't given all the meds when I was told they were all filled and ready to pick up. I asked the cashier what was up, and they said they were out of stock of that particular med... and of course, it was the most important script that I needed. I was given something that I DID have a prescription for, but any pharmacy wasn't allowed by law to refill it again yet as I still had weeks to go on that particular med. So, I was told my meds were filled. I showed up to get them, they weren't filled, or were "out of stock," then they gave me a refill of an old script that I didn't reorder, nor was allowed to by law as it is a controlled substance that shouldn't have been legally filled yet. I aske d to speak to a different employee, and lo and behold, the med that I actually needed the most and I was in there to get that I was informed was out of stock as I was told was on backorder WAS actually in stock, so he filled it promptly for me ASAP

This is just a small sampling of the ineptitude of parts of this staff. There's no happy medium. Their customer service skills vacillate between world class and thirld-world class, there's...

Excellent staff in the pharmacy. Saved me hundreds on one prescription vs going across the street to CVS. $303 with insurance at CVS and only $38 with GoodRX at HyVee. I recommend shopping your prescription prices using your insurance drug price tool and the GoodRX app. HyVee consistently lands at the top for lowest prescription prices even vs. WalMart, Walgreens, CVS and all the others. If you need to know the status of a prescription at this location, you'll have better luck driving there and asking in person. The individual answering the phone immediately puts you on hold. I made 3 different calls. Each call was the same 10+ minute wait, listening to elevator music, before I hung up and tried again.
