READ ANY FINE PRINT AND REVIEWS BEFORE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE GETTING INTO WITH THESE TYPE OF PEOPLE. READ SNARKY OWNER RESPONSES AS WELL FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS. Today we chose to give this place another chance after its unfortunate decline with service as a result of the business ownership switch. At its prime, it was a bustling MEXICAN restaurant with amazing service, great music, lively folks and decor, and free inclusions such as a plethora of chips & salsa, & even delicious homemade soup. However, everything mentioned including the menu itself was completely different. I’m talking a 180 switch into Dominican vibes and food. That’s fine. We ordered a round of drinks for our party of 6 and got some frozen salsa, before we realized we had a family emergency and had to go to our relative nearby. We informed our server who seemed upset, angrily grabbing our glass cups and saying he’ll bring the check. We quickly finished up our drinks, to find a whopping 40 dollar charge on sodas. Astronomically insane. Red flag number one. In a rush, one person signed, paid, and we left. Upon looking at the total when we arrived at our destination, we were unknowingly charged a 20% gratuity. I think it’s interesting the first snarky point the business makes is they didn’t force anybody to stay. That’s the issue, WE DIDNT. We left. We ordered no food, only water and sodas, for a whopping $40 charge. Upon looking at the photos, the gratuity info is in small font below the FOOD menu, which, again, we ordered nothing from. In even finer print is said info on the receipt. To assume that every consumer has the time to carefully inspect each and every receipt given throughout their lifetime is a sorry excuse for deception. Again, I’d ask these Dominicans to use their head for a second for critical thinking and not scamming. The point of, “if something bothered us, we should have spoke up” is illogical because we left very early and profusely apologized. An important point to mention is WE DID CALL. We noticed the charge and the person who paid rang to express their unhappiness and concerns. The female server reiterated over and over that it was in fine print on the menu and receipt, and that there was nothing they could do because the manager wasn’t there. Again, interesting this business gives pointers to relieve a bad customer experience but doesn’t follow through. We did everything by the book. We noticed the charge, called and communicated kindly, and even then were told to suck it up. It’s almost comical the story this business spins on their attitude ridden reviews, which mind you, says all you need to know about who’s wrong/these kinds of people. We’ve been dining in the area, experimenting and trying out everything for YEARS. Not once did a restaurant knowingly deceive customers with fine print gratuity though they claim this is a common practice. I disagree and encourage others to find out for themselves. Prices rose while service and vibes went down. Don’t waste your time with this sorry excuse of a place. P.S. Last time we went, we saw a few cockroaches on our way out in front of the host stand, so keep an eye out for health...
Read moreI’m very saddened about what has happened to this restaurant.
We ordered drinks and it was 40 dollars. Just for a few drinks, no appetizers, no food, nothing.
This place isn’t authentic Mexican food. They upped the prices and kept the name of a “Mexican restaurant” but it simply isn’t. They have other hispanic/latino food, mostly Dominican. They played Dominican music in the restaurant and all of the waiters are Dominican as well.
On our receipt, they charged us 15% for gratuity. They didn’t inform us about this, and they also had another line on the receipt that explicitly said “tip”. Why ask for more tip if you’re already giving it to yourselves?
When other restaurants I’ve gone to include tip in their food prices for example, they include it in big bold letters and your waiter informs you as well. This restaurant does neither.
I remember going a few weeks ago to this establishment and they did the same thing on the receipt, including tip then asking for more. I also spoke Mexican Spanish to the waiter and she didn’t even understand me because they’re all Dominican. It’s fine to run a Mexican restaurant if you’re from another country, but atleast attempt to speak the same language and have the same food. This is not authentic Mexican food or an authentic Mexican experience, don’t go here if you’re looking for such.
I was hoping they’d learned from their mistakes but it’s still the same crappy restaurant. Their business is run on...
Read moreSame setup of last restaurant just painted bright colors and tiles seemed clean but two sets of people seated in booth behind us with nothing but a dust off in between! Now atmosphere... Waiter was polite only one working very empty. Another at bar just cleaning inside glasses with a rag. But in the kitchen Wow what a party? Music turned up or down to songs they liked and would sing.( dont quit day jobs) Then they were yelling over each other in spanish With no regard people guests were there! Now food....
