I would put 0 stars if I could. Poor customer service - no customer service at all I would say.
Manager didn’t even wanted to listen to me when I called about my order. Hanged up the phone when I was trying to explain the issue I had with my order.
Issue: Google said that they are open until 9pm. I ordered online, through the web that their business provided (not the third party online site). I got a text message confirmation about the order being ready between 8:05-8:20pm. My husband went there at 8:25pm, the door was locked, no sign of people inside, lights off. Looked like they closed early. My credit card got charged.
Next morning when I called in to explain the issue and say that I would like to have a refund, and trying politely explain the issue to the manager, she just said: ‘we closed early and did not receive any orders’, she refused to hear anything else. Not to mention, she did not introduce herself, secondly, she started arguing right away, like I’m the one at fault. Consistently telling me that they do not provide any online ordering - which is a false information according to Google. It is an owner’s responsibility to modify the hours of operation online, also an owner’s responsibility to modify online ordering system (speaking from experience). The lady who spoke on the phone, was extremely rude, arguing for no reason, and not letting me finish my sentence, did not care that I paid money for my order that I didn’t receive. Of course, I didn’t even get an apology for the inconvenience that this business caused me. When I called her out on her rudeness, asked her why she is being so rude and not letting me explain the situation, she just got even more upset and replied: ‘we don’t take online orders’, and HANGED UP THE PHONE! Really? Interning, then who did charge my credit card with a business name ‘Sam’s Italian Foods’. This is not a way to operate a business. Super unprofessional.
Businesses like this should not be in business, if they do not care about customers. Very...
Read moreWhat another terrible experience at this location, It was bad enough I'm writing this review. It started with the condescending tone olivia.. when I asked If they had real bacon instead of bacon bits for my dagwood. I was informed all they have is bacon bits which is fine (mind you I've gotten this sandwich for years now ) so anyway I told them I would take it with the bits in hopes to be on my way, I prefer My dagwood heated btw. So I get home, open my....dagwood.. and there's no bacon. I feel like was out of spite because I specifically asked about the bacon on the sandwich, and the girls were really rude to begin with. Not eager to assist or answer questions. So anyway. No bacon on the sandwich when I get home I couldn't believe it, so I called and was told because I ordered my dagwood heated it doesn't come with bacon... (you would have think they would have mentioned this since I brought up bacon to begin with )I was told the cold dagwood and hot dagwood are two completely different sandwhiches..... i have never ever not had bacon on my heated dagwood and I never had to ask for it? They said they've been working over 5 years at this location and they've never put bacon on a "heated dagwood " so I call the lisbon st location that I've never had a problem at , asked them what comes on a heated dagwood, of course they said bacon.. so Sam's at main st may I ask , should I order a cold dagwood "heated" to get bacon? Like how stupid does that sound ????. this location needs an attitude check, better managment, and...
Read moreI grew up in Lewiston, but since 2019, I’ve had to live away from Maine—thanks to rising rents and an economy that’s made it harder and harder to stay. That said, my family is still here, and whenever I’m back in town, there are certain traditions I refuse to skip. Stopping at Sam’s Italian on Lisbon Street is one of them.
This location holds extra significance for me—not just because I’ve been coming here for as long as I can remember, but because my nephew works here now. It’s a full-circle moment, seeing the place that’s been a staple of my childhood and beyond now be a part of his life too.
And the food? It’s exactly as I remember it, which is to say, it puts even Amato’s to shame. I always make time for a turkey Italian, a ten-inch bacon pizza, and at least one whoopie pie—a trifecta of Maine comfort food that never disappoints. And because I know I’ll be craving it as soon as I’m back in Vermont, I usually grab a few Italian rolls and a bottle of their oil to bring with me. There’s something about having that taste of home among the mountains that makes being away just a little bit easier.
Sam’s is one of those places that feels like a constant in a town that’s changed a lot over the years. Whether you grew up here or are just passing through, it’s worth a stop—especially at the Lisbon...
