Over the past decade, I’ve noticed a decline in the quality and service at Sam’s, which is disappointing for an iconic local restaurant in Maine. I’m not sure if there’s been a change in ownership or what the cause might be, but it’s clear that things aren’t what they used to be.
I understand that rising food costs have led to higher prices—that’s the reality everywhere. But if you’re going to charge more, the quality should reflect it. Customers should walk away impressed, not disappointed.
Lately, the Italians have seemed premade and lacking in freshness, with very little filling—mostly just bread. On one occasion, I even received the wrong sandwich. And when I recently picked up a breakfast pizza, the staff member was outright rude.
Great food, attention to detail, and friendly service are what made Sam’s the best Italian sandwich shop in town. Where did that go? I hope to see a return to the high standards that made this place a...
Read moreI will be honest and blunt. I do not like Sam's Italian foods. They are overpriced and overrated. I know of two other businesses in town that use the same rolls the same type of meats and their sandwich prices are extremely lower. For the most part staff is friendly but there has been a couple of times when I have gone to a Sam's, various ones, we're having waited on by a manager or assistant manager and, let's just say it wasn't the greatest customer service. I've never tried the pizza, but I should. I should also try the spaghetti. But if I'm looking for a decent real Italian sandwich, I will go to George's Pizza or Lewiston House of Pizza or Angelo's Pizza. That way I get an authentic, real, Italian sandwich without having to stop by the bank and get a loan...
Read moreProbably one of the all around worst places to get food. Do yourself a favor and do not get food here. 80% of the time my order is not correct, so i have to drive back for them to correct it. Management (if there is any) is very unprofessional, a bunch of kids. The portions are almost unreal... I ordered “Spaghetti with meatballs” and recieved nearly a tablespoon worth of soggy pasta with a dab of tasteless cold sauce. With ONE single meatball on the side.. on another occasion, ordered a chicken parmesan sub. For some reason they made me a chicken parmesan pizza????!!!!??! What the hell??!?! That isnt even on the menu? I could go on and on about this place. Do yourself a favor and go take your buisness else where. It is difficult to be a worse restaurant...
