Big Daddy's Grill-N-Chill — Restaurant in Lewistown

This post is more for the owners, I hope they can recover from last night's service issues.

Last night was the first time I was there since 2018, I would typically come in while working in the area with the railroad for wing night, and back then everything was top-notch. However, last night was rough. The bar seemed to get ample attention with the 7-8 regulars, however the six or so tables seemed a little neglected. If serving alcohol is the only business you want to be in as a bar, then remove the “grill n’ chill” portion on your sign, otherwise as a restaurant, it was completely dysfunctional until the very end. After we ordered our appetizers, we waited a fairly long time for a simple order of loaded fries, to which the fries we received were plain. As we waited, no one checked in on us for what felt like about an hour.

The saving grace came after I had to go up to the bar after almost an hour of waiting with no refills, no one checking in, and no appetizers to finally get some service. At that point what I assume was your GM jumped in the kitchen and started to help push food out. We were within minutes of walking out when we finally got our food after waiting well over an hour for anything. The “loaded” fries we did receive this time had the lowest quality canned cheese, and greasy bacon bits slammed on top. Needless to say, that was a disappointment.

Initially we were told the kitchen was just really busy, and that they only had one fryer that was behind, then we were told that apparently a cook went home sick. Whatever the case may be, if your staff is upfront about any potential issues, it goes a long way in the service business. I appreciated the kindness of the one server in pink, she's an absolute gem. We also were thankful to be comped for this meal due to all these issues.

To the owners, how can you claim to have award-winning wings when you have only one small fryer that the kitchen would struggle to keep up with?? Also, over $16 for a dozen these days? Sounds like you might need a new supplier, we have numerous spots in our area that offer two dozen wings for $15 on wing nights. The place is dark with all the green paint, and it made it hard to see what tables were even clean, gave everything an off atmosphere. The menu is also very confusing the way it's laid out, not to mention, the extreme suicide sauce isn't even made anymore, and was one of the reasons we decided to stop. Furthermore, where is your social media at? I used to see consistent posts with marketing on places such as Facebook where I would see different specials, and it looks like no one's posted for over a week. This just seems like such a downgrade compared to how things used to be...

me and my family went here for dinner this evening, expecting it to be amazing, as it always has been in the past times that we have went. The fact that it was super busy was not the main problem, that’s understandable as there was only two waitresses. The main things that made it so horrible was, the tables were super unsanitary looked as if they were not cleaned in weeks, the fries were burnt, and the people in the kitchen are all over the place, I can tell they have no and I mean no passion for cooking which makes the food and overall experience not good. The one cook came out of the kitchen and said “I have no business being in the kitchen” wow that just said a lot about you and a lot about this restaurant. There was 4 people in our group we all ordered at the same exact time, we waited for a long while and our food finally came out (okay) but my other friend had to wait for her food for 30 mins to maybe an hour after ours came out. Only once close to when everyone was finally done eating did they ask if we needed refills to drink. Everything is just all over the place. Big Daddy’s is a Bar/Restaurant that has plenty of indoor seating and a very friendly owner, whom I have known personally for many years. One of the favorites on their menu is their Flavorful Selection of Wings! Both boneless or bone in wings and our personal favorite, ordering the wings Extra Crispy! They have everything from subs, to burgers to appetizers and salads! I recommend taking the time to stop in and have a look at their menu and see for yourself what you have been missing! If the mood strikes you, you can have a drink at the bar while you wait! Kids are welcome to eat inside during lunch and dinner only, if accompanied by their parent(s) or guardian.
