It’s kind of funny how badly our area needs good “third places” to exist. Velcrokid delivers. Just the right mixture of snacks, seating, and toys. Good place to study or vibe out. Literally just spent like 3 hours here just talking to a friend and snacking LOL. Something I really liked is the owner has stocked his vending machines with a mix of local and international products (I can finally live the American dream and get emporium pie from a vending machine). Also, the homie offers oatmilk for the coffee machine… what a G.
The owner is super chill and has good taste in music and doesn’t mind helping you troubleshoot the gacha machines. I’d definitely like to come back here again. Here are some things I’d love to see carried here:
-Skullpanda “The Sound” figures that we can buy out of the collectible vending machine. This is just personal to me since I really like this line, your mileage may vary
-More records for sale 🤙 had some great off-the-wall soundtracks available in the record bin
-Stickers (because they’re a cheap and cute way to support your business if someone is broke lol)
-Drip coffee? Defeats the purpose of the vending machine I know but I would buy a “coffee pass” or something to have drip offered here in addition to the machine coffee lol we already know that drip coffee isn’t peak it’s just so that you can caffeinate en masse so it doesn’t even need to be good drip lollll but this would be good for a long study session
Very sensory friendly. This is a place where I saw all ages hanging out in one space: Families with kids, college kids, and olders/wise kids stopping by to collect figurines and stuff. The fact that a space accommodates multiple generations without it ruining the fun for anyone else is a good sign. I’d come here again, hopefully to snag the shrimp cats. It looks like the machine inventory rotates, so if you have FOMO...
Read moreVelcrokid is a café first and foremost, with unique snacks, drinks, and toys from high-tech cashless vending machines. I've never been anywhere like it and it's hard to explain - just go check it out!
The lighting is relaxing, the music is chill, and there are lots of live plants. It's just good vibes, and they encourage hanging out, playing games, looking at their art books, working remotely and/or enjoying the art. In addition to a bunch of other drinks and snacks they sell they've partnered with local businesses to serve Emporium pie, Edison coffee ($3), Marty B's ice cream ($8/pint), Purpose macaron cream sandwiches ($8), and stuff from Hoshi Japanese sweets. They also have hot water for ramen ($8-10) and a microwave if you're more in the mood for a meal.
Tonight we tried strawberry milk ($3), a chocolate mochi donut ($2), a matcha ice cream sandwich, a strawberry shaved ice pop ($2, YUM) and a Wild Bill's rocket pop soda ($3, so good!). The collectible toys they sell are adorable too, and the smallest ones (in the capsule machines) start at $8.
The owner Eric has been in Lewisville for 18 years and seems to really care about the community. Let's help this place succeed! We need more welcoming community gathering places and support for...
Read moreI kept driving past this place wanting to see what was inside and what they had. Some of it is really cool. There are token machines, like gumball machines that you can get various figurines from, such as kawaii, though they may not have had that specific brand, it was something along those lines. There is a vending machine for purchasing PVC figurines. There is a vending machine for various iced drinks, like tea, coffee, ramun. They have one for various Asian snacks and one for ice cream and mochi. The shop has art work for sale, prints, stickers, plushes. Honestly, given it was called a vending machine café, I guess I was hoping for more figurine vending machines, or maybe I was secretly hoping for some claw games to get figurines like at Round 1 or ClawMania. There is a nice atmosphere with awesome couches and coffee tables which make this place a cool place to just chill and zen out. They even created a phone booth for you to have a private conversation to keep from disrupting the atmosphere. I think more people need to check it out, and I hope that the owners will later look at adding a little more to the store for customers to peruse...
