Unfortunately this review is due to a very poor phone call I had with the Restaurant’s employee in charge of booking parties. I had called a few weeks in advance to inquire about having a party of 7-10 come in for an intimate baby shower/sprinkle lunch. This would have consisted of a couple balloons, a few gifts, and we would have brought our own cake as the restaurant did not provide cakes. We would just eat lunch, have some drinks, and good conversation (no games or anything extravagant) then be on our way. My initial phone call went great. The person I spoke to stated normally I would have to talk to the party coordinator but since it’s such a small party it probably would not be a big deal if we took up a table in the corner somewhere. She even checked with management who said it would be fine. They told me they would still leave the message for the coordinator but we reserved the time and date. The coordinator then called me today and said that normally there is a private room that they rent out for parties but that it would be too expensive for a party that small (7-10ppl). I told her I understood if they had a policy and fee and asked what the cost would be to rent the room. She told me it is normally $200. I told her I would be open to paying that and she continued to state that it wouldn’t be worth it to me to pay that much and that it would be difficult for the restaurant to reserve space and time for that size a party, especially during the weekend when they would get a lunch rush. She told me she could ask management if they would consider setting aside a corner of the restaurant for $200 fee, but repeatedly stated that it would affect the revenue that could be generated during that time. I repeatedly explained to her that we would not be there for hours and that it would take up 1-2 tables (normal for 7-10ppl) and that we would be purchasing their food and drinks. She blatantly did not want our service and thought it was outrageous that we’d be willing to pay $200 for that small of a gathering. She did eventually call her manager and was approved that if we would pay the $200 fee they would reserve a small corner in the back of the restaurant. It was still clear that she thought our party of 10 would be an inconvenience to the restaurant and potential revenue they could collect on a busy weekend. I told her I would not be booking with them and was very dissatisfied with the way she handled the phone call.
To the owners of Sweetwater Deli—you’ve now not only lost out on a party of 10 who would have ate/drank a lot and tipped well, you’ve also lost my patronage for life. I called the restaurant down the street and they were more than happy to...
Read moreOn this nice Memorial Day Weekend, my sister and I were excited to take our children out of the house for some fun and a nice lunch together. We walked into the restaurant and were greeted by the hostess trio that was seating everyone. My sister told them that there would be 2 adults and 4 kids needing a table. The hostess skimmed the restaurant and quickly replied that they were at maximum capacity and because they were at maximum capacity we should find another establishment to eat at. Not even offering to put our name on a list to wait. We exited the restaurant and 2 separate parties (totaling 6)entered the restaurant. I watched as they quickly looked around the restaurant, trying to find a place for them to sit. My sister and I were absolutely dumbfounded that they were actually seating both parties. Unable to leave without asking why we were denied a table, my sister went back inside to inquire as to why we were not offered to wait for the the next available table and were told to find another place to eat....Was it because we had four children with us and she replied “ well we can put you on the list now I guess” I asked if they turned us away because of us having kids and her response was “being that children are considered a person that it is difficult to seat because they take up more room with booster seats and high chairs so people with kids take up more room in the restaurant”. What is the difference between 6 adults and 2 adults and 4 kids? Discriminatory behavior at its finest was blatantly demonstrated by this establishment and we will...
Read moreI would give a 5 for food, but I have to dock points for service. I had only ordered Sweetwater one time during a visit to the area in July. We got carry out and it was soooo good! We can't get pickle pizza anywhere around us, and I had a craving for it for a while now. We decided to take a day trip out to the area last weekend and join some family on the patio for lunch. Unfortunately, our party decided to leave and just grab some lunch down at Wimpy's. We try to be kind patrons and do things the right way, especially during these times. We put in our name right away and patiently waited outside for a table to open. After about 20 minutes a woman came out to seat us and seemed to have a bit of an attitude. Maybe a rough day, no big deal. While we had already reviewed the menus for about 10 minutes, two other tables were sat afterward. We had all of our menus down, waiting for someone to come to even take a drink order. After waiting and having one person walk by us a few times without even a notice that they would be coming to help, both of the other tables were being served before us. It was about 20 minutes of waiting to be recognized that we just decided to leave. Nobody cared. Such a shame. I will come back for carry out at some point, but being a huge tipper I do not plan to spend our money dining in again. One of the two waitresses we passed had her mask completely below her...
