Stopped in for the 1st time today. Took some family out for their birthday. We got the Michigan Harvest Salad and the Big Crunchy Fish sandwhich (photo included) and 2 VP signature margarita, Pomegranate & Blueberry. Other family got Fish & Chips, Nachos, and a burger (not pictured)....all food looked good.
Salad - very tasty. I loved the chunked apples. Raspberry vinegarette dressing was good but I wished they had a cherry vinegarette. I love the Salad though...and will order it again. Tip: if you don't like strong cheese get the blue cheese on the side or ask to replace with feta.
Fish sandwhich - VERY GOOD! Crispy for sure and the tarter was good too. The chips thst come with it was better than the fries. We liked the chips alot.
Margarita - the Pomegranate was good. Liked it had Suzua tequila. The Blueberry, couldn't taste Blueberry at all. Still a good drink but wasn't getting Blueberry.
Service - service was quick and efficient. Pleasant upon approach and through out service. The busser or hostess (whoever she was) was kind of rash. She kept wanting to take dishes frequently. We had a party of 6 so I get wanting to keep up but when we were done just chatting she interrupted to clear water glasses that weren't even emptied yet. She interrupted conversation to ask to remove glasses. Not a big deal but poor execution I felt personally. Nothing that would keep me from returning though.
Armosphere - Tavern style. It's nicer than I'd expect of a bar or pub. Loved the lodge style decor with the moose head, brick walls, wooden tables/bar, and still having the football game on the TVs. Casual dining, clean tables/chairs, restaurant was bright & well lit. Good and enviting place. Didn't use rest room, so can't comment on that.
Overall - Presents well in both food and environment. Highly recommend giving this place a try. And I would definitely return here. Review based on Sunday lunch time (1:00pm-ish)...
Read moreI’ve always liked this restaurant! The food was great! But we went on August 26 and the food and service was not great. We came in and it wasn’t busy like it usually is for a Saturday. I ordered a strawberry margarita and my mom ordered a blood orange margarita. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks and the waitress came back saying they didn’t have the strawberry mix so I ordered a regular margarita instead. Whatever it happens. Then she came back and said they can’t do the blood orange because they couldn’t find the alcohol they need, so my mom ordered a berry margarita. Another lady brought our drinks. They gave my mom the wrong drink so they had to redo it. (I also ordered sugar on the rim and I got salt on it). At this point we were a little annoyed but we didn’t say anything and we were polite. We didn’t see our waitress for 30 minutes so we could put our food order in. We asked another waitress to put our order in. We ended up with a different waitress that served us in between her tables. The food was nothing special. I was annoyed our waitress was MIA. I talked to the second waitress and asked her what happened to our original waitress and that we were pretty frustrated with our service we received. She just apologized and said that the original waitress stepped out without telling them. It was awful. We will not go back again. On top of that we heard other waitresses saying that they are going to quit cause they can’t handle the chaos. I felt awful for the waitresses and bartenders. It sounded like...
Read moreI'm hoping we caught this place on an off night. We arrived around 745 and sat at the bar. We were planning on dinner but once we were able to get the bartender's attention and ask for a menu, she told us they were on the "late-night" menu and she had to go find the late night menus. We ordered an Oberon and a glass of wine which were placed before us on the condensation and crumbs of the previous diners' imprint. When she eventually returned, she handed us a laminated card with several items listed - chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, a few other things. Two were crossed through to indicate they were out. She never came back so the next time she was back behind the bar we asked for the check. We finished our drinks quickly and I pulled cash out of my purse to pay. I had the right amount for change and tip and was chatting casually with my friend, holding my purse in my lap with my hand that had the check and the cash in it resting on top of my bag. I guess that's how you get some service around this joint - she materialized out of nowhere and could she get us any change? One perk: The kick-in-the-ass-on-the-way-out-the-door wasn't on their late-night menu, but I guess we got one on the...
