Athenian Grill — Restaurant in Lexington

I ordered takeout from here and had a hard time finding it, as I am not familiar with downtown. I was on a short break from work and when I couldn't find it, I called. The guy on the phone was really sarcastic and kept snickering at me. I informed him that I would be there a little later to get the food than I thought because I would have to go back on my lunch break. He snickered a sarcastically said OK. I went back on my lunch, found the place. There were 2 Hispanic ladies in the front putting orders together. I gave them my name and they proceeded to make smartallic comments. (I speak fluent Spanish so I knew exactly what was being said), then they proceeded to laugh. Once I got back to work, I opened my food, and I was missing half of it. There was no veggies in the plate. So not only were they rude and condescending, they didn't fix the order correctly. I wasn't able to go back and get it corrected because I had to go back to work, but one thing I know for sure is I will not being back to this Athenian. The attitude of the employees on top of the smart comments made thinking that someone wont understand, and not even getting the order correct was all icing on the cake for a bad business. The hubby & I were told we had to try this Greek food restaurant so we went. I ordered the classic gyro with the traditional gyro meat. What they gave me was made with chicken, it was sent back. They bring out one made with gyro meat , I picked it up to take a bite and the smell was weird, and it was soggy. I took a bite and it had a strange taste . Evidently they put olive oil on the bread . I took a second bite and the meat was so salty it was inedible. I had them box it up because I couldn't eat anymore of it. (I should have sent it back ) I guess the owner asked me how everything was , I said strange. Strange how , I told him the bread tasted strange , he told me it was hand made in Greece. Ok but if it has a strange taste !? So then I told him it was way to salty, he got defensive. Wrong responce ! I usually salt everything but glad I didnt this time. It was brine salty ! Look if you don't want to know DON'T ASK !Because I will tell you. Anyway if you want excellent Mediterranean food check out Nefertiti's in eastland shopping center. Great food...

This is not indicative of the Athenian Grill on Ashland. I have eaten there multiple times and had no issues. At the Main street locale, I was greeted, ordered and then went to wait. The line cook just kept staring as I was waiting on my food. No smiles, no greeting, nothing. Just stares! I then proceeded to have two people who ordered after me - receive their food. I had a classic Gyro and a drink (self serve). How does that work? The food is normally fresh and overflowing the pita. This was crunchy, greasy, and overall not the level of quality I am accustomed to at this one or the main one I frequent on S. Ashland.
