Really loved the facility, the staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. I found some really interesting resources (depends on each person's preference) I would be visiting this place very often, to read or do some work 👍

It’s a nice library, but filled with somewhat jittery homeless who congregate in the square and park across the street. It was clean and well maintained inside, but wasn’t a comfortable space.

We love the downtown library! I brining my kids here all the time. It’s an entire floor with crafts and a great play area. The staff is super kind and helpful.

Coming to the library used to be a fun thing dor me but recently I have been met with one lady who is always so rude, hostile and down right mean if I may say so. I had brought back an ILL Return back and it was late I will say I was in the wrong but she wasn't up to hear any reasoning on why it was late or anything at all. The ILL system and the regual catalog system definitely isn't linked together as I had noticed saying it was overdue last month sometime or in late April and it had said I had received late notices via email so I checked my email and didn't see anything so I went back into the system and noticed that they have the wrong email and I have spoken to multiple library representatives to have this changed and they said it was changed but it's still not changed at all. Other than the ILL system being a major failure I have loved coming to any branch of the Library in Lexington. Raul from Northside has always been welcoming and Molly from Central has been nothing but a major delight she always has a smiling face and always so kind and gentle and even after rhe rude lady had said her piece I internally laughed as Molly made a dun dun dun and it had brought me back from being upset. The library is always cleaned and in good order sometimes holds are misplaced but normally they are found and sometimes they aren't or they got lost in transit. The library interiors are amazing. The homeless population can be quite a bother inside and outside of the library. No disrespect to them but maybe congregate away from the public library's front doors as they sometimes get rude and hostile. Sorry for the long review and it would have been a 4 or 5 star if not for my bad experience with the lady who was working circulation with Molly on Friday June 16th...

I lost a lot of my respect for this library when I went in one day. I was waiting to be addressed by a staff member and noticed a beautiful woman who was working as a library assistant. My jaw dropped and I definitely blushed out of embarrassment and turned my head away when she noticed. What followed after that was repulsive. Her friend and her(using the term incorrectly as I later found out she was a “they” but for the purpose of the story I’ll say it as I experienced it) decided to talk about how she’d never date me in a very loud tone so that the entire lobby and hell anyone listening on any floor could hear it. She wasn’t calling me out for being attracted to her. Nope. She was calling me out for being poor and not meeting her financial quota. Then, upon seeing that I was upset about her conversation, she continued to say that it was another reason she wouldn’t date me. Because I was upset about her harassing me and she expects the people she dates to put up with her bad attitude. Her friend proceeded to joke with her about how that was why she’d always be single. I might have been less upset and not left a review if that bad excuse for a human being hadn’t gotten the job position that I had called the library back several times for. You all hired a mean person to work in a family centered environment. Maybe next time you should give the people who pretty much beg you for the job a chance rather than skipping over someone with a...

We loved coming to the kids section of the library. There’s so much for them to do. As the weather has gotten colder there’s a large homeless population in the building. While I certainly understand allowing them in the building it makes me very uncomfortable that they are in the children’s section. Every time I’ve come there are adults laying on the ground around or inside of some of the children’s play toys. They often don’t have children with them. I’ve also been there when they have sat inside the children’s section yelling and cursing at each other. We often leave or no longer go as I don’t feel comfortable or safe allowing my toddlers to play there. I’m not sure why adults with no kids need to be on toddler play equipment or inside of the play area when there are plenty of other places in the library to go. I’ve thought about complaining to the people working there but they seem like college aged women and I don’t feel comfortable asking them to do anything. The library needs to keep security on the children’s floor and enforce adults with kids are the only ones allowed to be in there. Unfortunately I know many people who no longer go because of...
