Original Zomato Review 6/13/15 - The atmosphere was quaint Chinese, a lot of red, typical decorations, etc. I felt a bit stupid trying to get in the restaurant because finding the door is not intuitive--Chengs share an external door with a doughnut shop. The doughnut shop marks the entrance as if it were their door, so we walked around front and side of the building before figuring this out.
I ordered General Tso chicken, steamed rice, egg roll, and egg drop soup. The food is cooked to order, so don't get in a hurry. The egg drop soup is very good--the eggs are silky and the broth is not overly thick/gel like. Egg rolls are deep fried well (no pockets of oil) and it seems like they remain hot inside for quite some time. The main dish was tasty--good flavor--and the chicken was all white meat and the pieces were very large and meaty. The only less-than-positive comments are: (1) I wish there were more rice included and (2) I like the chicken pieces a bit smaller on deep fried, breaded chicken Chinese dishes. There is plenty of food for the money--we ate two combination meals, drinks, and an order of egg rolls for under $25.
The restaurant was busy. Service was good. Restaurant was clean. I will definitely go back as it is a top choice in Lexington for...
Read moreCustomer service is horrible. The ladys have a nasty attitude. We wanted to dine in but we were suggested carry out and when we said eating here she looked at us like it was a problem. Then the table we had sat at had just got done being wiped down so it was soaked. When I went to ask if she could wipe off the excess water I rudely got cut off by her saying "Hold on, hold on I know already ! Drink first!" (If you knew you would of bought a towel over when you came to take our drink order) so when we went to order our drink she was rushing us (she asked what do you want to drink like 3 times in 3 seconds-like can we think for a sec) to choose before telling us the options. After we choose drinks she came back with drinks and the towel. She wiped off the table swipping me with the rag, put down the menus and walked off. Idk what all the attitude was for but it wasnt a pleasant first five minutes and we wasnt going to stick around to continue being poorly mistreated so we left and went to PF Changs where they had wonderful food and...
Read moreI had high hopes for Cheng's restaurant, but my experience there was a major letdown. I ordered the chicken and broccoli dish, expecting it to be spicy as I had specified. To my disappointment, the dish arrived with no hint of spiciness. The taste of the food was bland and uninspiring, lacking any real depth of flavor. To make matters worse, after finishing my meal, I experienced stomach cramps which left me feeling uncomfortable for hours.
Despite the shortcomings of the food, I must say that the person who took my order was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing experience. They were polite, respectful, and professional, which was a nice change from the typical rushed and impersonal service one often encounters in restaurants.
In conclusion, my visit to Cheng's was a disappointment from start to finish. The food was not good and failed to live up to my expectations. If you're looking for a satisfying and flavorful meal, I would recommend seeking out a...
