G.D.A. Jewelers — Local services in Lexington

Be warned that they are not certified to service Rolex watches. (I should have checked beforehand but they insisted that they could do it.)

Apparently, they contract out to a traveling watch repairman. He had adjusted the strap and it no longer fit my wrist but the lady working with me (I won't mention her name) couldn't seem to get her story straight as to what he had done to the strap. To add insult to injury, the guy who serviced the watch returned it with a smudge on the inside of the crystal.

I asked to speak directly with the repairman to find out what exactly he did to the strap and to see if he could fix what he had done. She said she would have to let me know when he comes by and I'd have to drop everything to see him when he happens to be in town for the few hours he's there.

They took it back and kept it for another couple of weeks before I had to call again inquiring about my watch. She gave it back with the absurd suggestion that the smudge on the crystal I'm seeing is actually on the watch face and that it is normal fading. (No, she never let me know if he ever came by.) This was the worst communication I have ever experienced with a jeweler. They consistently failed to let me know when the watch was ready or when the "watch guy" was available. Just discovered GDA while spending some time on Southland Dr. for business. I took a set of stack rings in that I had purchased at an auction to get them appraised and cleaned. They did a beautiful job. May asked if I needed my wedding and anniversary ring cleaned while I was there and I said yes. She put them under the scope and noticed that one of the prongs had broken off of my wedding ring. (I work a lot with my hands.) She explained to me the process to repair it. I left it with her, along with my favorite pair of (broken) silver hoops and a watch that needed a battery. The repairs were prompt and well done. The cost was very fair. I will shop here again. Customer Service is definitely a strong point for them. Great service with out being "salesy." Great family...

update: i went there to sell my 10k gold cuban necklace for of course scrapped gold price was offered 300$ which was a slap in the face went to the pawn shop for $600 .
