Read moreResponding to Owner: !!Be mindful How You respond to reviews you don't like. All that I mentioned of my friend and my experience were Facts. You were the reason why the kitchen was very LOUD. Once you dame out of rhe kitchen telling the waitrsses what to do, you did it with authority and aggression IN Front of all of us! Coming on a Thursday was not an option. Could you have communicated to the paying customers that you are sorry for the wait AND the unexpected influx? YES. YOU were in the kitchen the whole time cooking and yelling. Customer Service was lacking. You were aware the waitress made an error with my order because you chimed in from the kitchen. Did YOU offer an apology as the business owner? No. And according the reviews that you do not like, instead of taking the facts and constructive feedback, you personalize it by saying we SHOULD have told you.!! ---- We only heard of this establishment due to the Comedian posting his food tasting. We were not expecting the confusion of seating us- just 2 people. Red flag #1. We asked to be seated elsewhere bc we were right by the kitchen door and it was very loud!! We came on a Sunday. Our waitress was scattered and unprofessional. We waited 15 minutes for chips and salsa. Once they came, we waited another 10 minutes to order. We had to get our waitress' attention. Red flag #2. The collard greens were extremely salty. The mac and cheese was good, in addition to the fried chicken. We came from Charlotte to support this establishment and left disappointed. The service was sub par. The phone CONTINOUSLY rang and no one picked it up! Red flag #3!! Because we ordered our to go food when we ordered our meals, we EXPECTED them to be ready when we paid. They weren't and the waitress gave the wrong order, which made us have to wait longer. SMH. Red flag #4. I began asking questions and found out the cashier was a family member who was just helping out and one of the waitresses. It was not a good experience 😕 at all. As a business owner who was put on by that Comedian, I hope you have addressed all of the chaos that transpired in your restaurant. Please decrease the salt portion in the...
Oh my goodness. You want to talk about great soul food cooking, it’s there. My family and I traveling from Florida stop at Jj’ Mama’s Soul Food on a Thursday evening the food and the service was extremely great. So good we ended up coming back the next day with my Mother In-Law the next day and she loves it. The food was delicious and speaks for itself but a couple of things stood out for my family and I; they have free grab bag meals for those who can’t afford food and the person who is cooking the food is the owner. Which means this isn’t just business.
“Matthew 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: Matthew 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: Matthew 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Matthew 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: Matthew 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Matthew 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Matthew 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? Matthew 25:38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Matthew 25:39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? Matthew 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

Read moreI stopped by JJ Mamma’s Kitchen for the first time after hearing so many positive reviews. It was Sunday and they had $30 Sunday buffet. $30!?!? Okay...they say its good... The menu included beef ribs, pork ribs, neck bones, turkey necks/wings, fried chicken, fish, baked chicken and various sides like rice, greens/cabbage, mac and cheese, cornbread, corn, green beans, and pinto beans and a few other items. I should note that the food i covered so you can't see it they just tell you what they have.
I got to the buffet and asked for oxtails, mac, greens, yams, rice. I wanted to try everything! I was told “this is rolling buffet we wont have oxtail until the beef ribs are gone”. Say what?? I was also told that the mac and rice were about to come out so I decided to try the beef ribs, wings, yams, and greens while I waited.
Well...
In the 40 min that I was there the rice Nor oxtail never made an appearance, even tho the ribs were gone.
I waited 20 minutes for mac and cheese. When it arrived, it was runny and overly salty. I couldn't eat it.
Turkey wings were dry and lacked flavor.
Beef ribs were mostly fat, barely any meat.
Greens/cabbage were salty and swimming in juice. He could barely grab em.
Fried chicken wings were well-seasoned but not served hot.
There was a noticeable line of people just standing around waiting on sides to be refilled for takeout plates. You could barely make a whole meal in one trip.
If you’re thinking about checking it out, manage your expectations. The flavors were hit or miss, and the organization of the buffet could really use some work. For $30 i should be able to make a full meal in one trip with hot food and...
