I was raised in Lexington so I knew what to expect in terms of restaurants. Seeing this place really stood out because it was different. Because I'm from Lexington, I know the food quality is high. This place was not and it didn't come close to the elevated experience one would expect for a Japanese steakhouse. I was served a poorly doctored, well done filet mignon cut up over a bed of rice with a sauce that did not pare well at all with the steak bites. No horseradish available. What I thought I was to be receiving from my order was a medium filet with rice. I have never experienced filet mignon in such a way. It was inedible. I was told that all of their steaks except the ribeye is served precut. I switched to the ribeye expecting a 10 oz medium rare cut. I received an inedible ribeye. It looked like it was going to be great but it was a curious brown color throughout and cold although it was seared nicely giving it a great appearance. My hometown deserves better and I trust my hometown will expect better from a restaurant promoting international cuisine. Horrible food and the manager(s)/owner(s), if notified, didn't make themselves available. Horrible experience that appears to make assumptions about folks not really knowing what to expect... Therefore give them anything.
The service was not on par with similar places I've experienced around the country. The ambiance and service in Honeymonks is waaaay superior to this place. Go eat barbecue instead of...
Read moreI went here for the first time with two friends and two children. We all ordered the Hibachi steak dinner and my 9 year old ordered the children's chicken nuggets and fries. While we waited for food waitress said she would bring straws right back. She never returned and we finally got the other girls attention and she brought the straws. Finally all orders of the Hibachi steak dinners were brought to the table, but the chicken nuggets and fries were not brought out. We sat there waiting and waiting and no one ever returned with my 9 year olds food. We were the only ones in the restaurant. My daughter finally walks to the checkout area and ask about the chicken nuggets and fries. The food was ready and just sitting in the back while everyone was back there just talking. She returns to the table with a plate that had dinosaur chicken nuggets that you buy from food lion. We began eating. The hibachi steak was not good and the hibachi sauce was very nasty and looked like mayonnaise. The california rolls did not look or taste fresh and smelled funny. So overall the food and service are horrible and I would not recommend this place. If you are looking for good food and service I would recommend the Mitzu asian grill in the walmart parking lot. Their Hibachi Steak and hibachi sauce are amazing! The service is...
Read moreI don't know what happened to this place but it sure ain't good we had a visit there recently and wow I cannot believe it we normally get hibachi steak and mushroom and up until now it's always been good I'm not saying this the best but at least a four star except for the last two times and it's been horrible I thought the other time was just a fluke everybody's entitled to a bad day but two times in a row no the steak was so so the mushrooms were undercooked and oh my gosh the rice it was absolutely horrible I don't normally eat white sauce but this time I had to have it the salad was eatable and the onion soup yuck and that's normally one of my favorite parts this tasted like chicken broth with one mushroom and a little bit of onion horrible horrible horrible and now to the waitress she brought our food never come back and checked on us. Until we were just sitting there looking and she finally come over and ask if we needed anything else by that time I couldn't hardly talk I had nasty rice kind of just blocking everything off because I didn't have any tea for the last 10 minutes we sit there so if I could give you zero Stars that's what you would have got but I had to do one star to leave my review needless to say I'll never know if you improve or not cuz I'll never be back so disappointed in...
