I’ve eaten here several times... usually the food and service in “ok”, but twice now I’ve had a bad experience. On a rainy night with a friend- poor parking lot lighting, few spaces, I started to back out of my spot in front of the restaurant. I looked in my rear view mirror, looked over my shoulder and backed into the side of a black Mercedes!! I tapped his car but you’d think I killed his dog.. "this is A MERCEDES!!!!” Officer saw no damage and left. That’s a freak accident but next food. I rarely go into restaurants alone, sometimes it’s just awkward. This time I walked in and the girl was the greeter, order taker, beverage server, and cashier all while having her face stuck to her phone. It’s like I was annoying her “🙄” kinda tossed the menu on the table , the Spanish speaking TV for customers was loud, and there were 3 other clients. It seems to be there for the employees. I got some chips and Yuk!! They tasted old and stale. I called the server back and told her “so what you want is new chips?” No “oh, I’m sorry let me take care of that” Tossed the non-stale chips onto my table. I still don’t remember her even making eye contact with me. Sat on her stool by the door on her phone. I asked her “can I get something to drink?” Who has to ask for something to drink? Then I just asked her to make my food “to go”. The BEST place for homemade corn gorditas, go up to the “old Maria’s” Where they make them for $3.00 each!! Cash only. Get a canned margarita at the liquor store across the parking lot. I now eat there at least 2 times a week, it’s nothing fancy but the women are so friendly and gracious. There is usually a neon color sign “cash only” - this is the place to go!! There are picnic tables and hope they stay open through the winter!! My favorite place to eat for the moment. The new Maria’s needs to forbid their employees from using their phones...
Read moreI wish i could give this place a 0 star rating. But sadly i cannot. To start my family of 5(3kids 2 adults) came to this "restaurant" at 5 pm with high hopes because of other reviews. The server was moody and unattentive. We recieved our drinks and had to flag her down to request something else to drink besides the sweet tea was rancid. We order our food and she returned to our table only once to give us our food..despite trying to get her attention. My husband finished his dos equis and i had finished my water and neither were ever replenished. There were two other tables making her head count to 9 people she was serving. Now onto the food... I ordered the steak fajitas which were mostly fatty meat and a crap ton of peppers that were not fresh. The meat was bland and tasteless. My children order the chicken flautus which were extrmely hard with styrofom chicken inside. My husbands burrito was bland and cheap steak as well. My bill was $36 for crap food and rude service. When i went to pay my bill i stood at the counter recieving silence from the server. I stated i needed to pay my bill she stuck out her hand (like she was expecting payment) i said how much is my bill.. She then very rudely recited the number and stuck out her hand again. Never once asking how anything was or saying thank you . we will not...
Read moreMaria's Kitchen looked like a good place to go in lexington, looking for a lot of flavor, home cooking and local color. Well Maria's was the place. It took me awhile to find it and it was only after I gave up that I stumbled upon it. Now if that sounds odd it was. I was giving up, and providence led me here! The place is a dive. out door only, order at the window, order in spanish really helps. Luckily I can do that. Well the patrons were eating and waiting to order as I was looking over the big menu on the window. A young man started chatting with me and wanted to help me understand what to order and how to order and that he had been coming here for years and how that I would be coming back and on and on. I listened and thought, loyal patrons, that is good, very good. Well I ordered a couple of burritos. Judging by the low cost I figured I could taste the chili verde and the asada burritos. All I can say is good call. The Tortillas are home made! Very nice. The meats and sauces are full of flavor and the green salsa in the squeeze bottle on the tables sets it off very well. I will be coming back, but when? I live a long way away! Lucky You if you are in Lexington and want a nice simple inexpensive meal, this...
